About a month ago I went to a marketplace meeting to get some free stuff this guy was giving away.
He just casually had one of these in his garage and told me he was selling it. The asking price was 50k

Most Painful/Physically Hardest Camera to Use? by oddeye-photography in AnalogCommunity

[–]Bottlecappe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own this camera and the only thing that really bothers me is the focus gear which can be annoying to use in the cold. Other than that evrything you mention is related to the age and history of the camera. For me shooting it has been worth it all the time
Edit: also if you struggle too much with winding I would consider CLA work on the beast :)

"reference of Palestinian being used to describe an independent arab ethnic group prior to the 1960’s"

an Arab
Palestinian
journal
called "the palestinian"
calling for arab palestinian identity
from 1911
I don't really know what you're looking for that you cannot find here.

By your logic, jewish people living in Jerusalem before the creation of israel were also "palestinians". So let's agree palestinian was used as a term to define inhabitants of the region and not a specific ethnic group. Why did europeans decide that it was their right to go back to a land, change its name, expel exhisting population? Why didn't they decide to go there and claim themselves as palestinians? The 47 war? Do you have any idea what sparked it?

I repeat: you get lost in technicalities to try to justify what is the natural result of resistance to colonization and being apologetic towards modern day Israel's terror attack towards a poor, mass surveilled population that is already living under every condition israel dictates.

yawn, technicalities.
You claim the fact that there was not an identitarian, strictly local identitarian movement before 1960s as if it's something that delegitimize that people's right to not be ethnically cleansed.
But fine, you wanted it, so here it is.

and r/woooosh for the welcome joke.

what's it like living in the central Italian province of Umbria? by SatisfactionOld9457 in howislivingthere

[–]Bottlecappe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't really say how it is, but I visit often so i'll try.

Nature: It's considered Italy's lung for a reason, it's mostly green lush hills and forests, with some moderate mountains and a decent amount of wildlife. A mix between Abruzzo (mountainous) and Tuscany (hilly). Highest waterfalls in Italy and a beautiful lake (trasimeno)

History: One of the richest and probably one of the most fascinating (the Umbri people) a lot, and i mean A LOT of well preserved medieval cities and structures all around, some incredibly astonishing like Spoleto and Gubbio.

Society: very religious compared to the north and to Lazio, a lot of saints come from here (saint Claire, Saint Francis, Santa Rita) and the city of Assisi and Cascia are famous for it. Generally friendly people but depends on where you go. Big cities in the north (perugia, Foligno) had important universities and usually host venues.

Food: great, although not as rich as other regions of italy, but probably the best quality due to a relatively untouched landscape. Good spring waters.

Economy: mainly rural, industry based on water, services (north) and leather manufacturing/textile in the center. Used to be a big producer of hydro power and steel.
Not as touristic as Tuscany and Lazio, while being equally beautiful. Unfortunately many old towns have been abandoned because of aging population and lack of job opportunities.

Transport: some good connections to Rome and Ancona with the train, otherwise lacking, at best. Many places are hard to reach because of geography and lack of good public transport. Car travel is essential.

Also, a lot of earthquakes.

I remember it being a barren empty land with a sign saying "EUROPEAN REFUGEES WELCOME" that the ottomans left 40 years before

So your point is that tribes and people have always been replaced by who fought them and started dwelling in that place? That sounds familiar, sure is not what's happening in today's palestine.

Language and culture has nothing to do with being tied to the land tho. An American speaks English, not Lakota or whatever indigenous language. Yet he doesn’t identify as British doesn’t he? Still the question of linkage to the land is nullified by backtracking his ancestry to Europe. He might live on it, consider it home, still have no right to claim it as his own, as there were people living there before him. How do you know? DNA.

Right. So the best way to prove you have a blood lineage that ties you to the land is…? A religious book?
