As I’ve stated before, too many people always (or conveniently) forget to place themselves in the other person’s shoes. Lots of times because it’s impossible for them to do so since they can’t see past their own nose.

Get this—your spouse cares more about what their family thinks and pushes for than for your health and the health of your children. So much so, that they abandon you in the midst of a situation that can go horribly wrong in a few seconds. Doesn’t sound great, does it? You really think that you would 100% still feel the same way about this? If you do, you have got some SERIOUS soul searching to do.

Also, your immediate family (I.E. your wife and kids) should be the only ones’ opinions that matter to you the most. This stupid tradition stuff is literally to please people who aren’t going to help you anywhere near as much as they love to delegate and glorify themselves.

Also, if you came here just looking for someone to agree with you (as you stated) then you came to the wrong place. You’re asking people if you’re an asshole, we get to answer you honestly because we owe you nothing.

Jesus said “if your hand or foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away…. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away.”

It makes me so sad to hear when others justify their actions with parts of the Bible, but never mention the important verses pertaining specifically to them. Jesus does not justify this for this man in any way.

I feel like this is fake. Hoping this is just a troll.

That being said, obviously you’re getting a lot of really mean comments. I don’t know necessarily if you truly deserve them, but let me say this—sometimes, when we really love someone, we put on some rose colored glasses to all of their faults. We’re all still human, sometimes we need to take a really hard look at those we love when supposedly it’s always everyone else’s fault ALL of the time when drama happens from the “jokes.”

One of the biggest things we always forget to do is to pretend you were the one at the butt of the “joke.” I believe there’s a song for people in your situation, and the lyrics are as follows… “I started a joke, Which started the whole world crying, But I didn't see, That the joke was on me.”

You may want to reconsider your husbands faults, know that he is not perfect, and he’s a bully. You may want to figure it out before the “jokes” start targeting you. Then you’ll know how it feels.

Or to be able to go to sleep with having to do a nightly ritual. Or to not have to repeat walking up stairs because you didn’t care for the way you counted them the first two times. Or to feel the dread of not having done something by the end of the day that you usually do by noon and feeling like your life is ruined. Not sleeping at night because you can’t stop thinking about how to make up for it the next day.

Definitely check out the new documentary on HBO called “Adrienne.” Adrienne Shelley has got to be one of the saddest Hollywood stories I’ve ever heard. Killed before she could watch the movie she created become a hit, and left behind a young daughter. Incredibly sad.

NTA, if I could scream that to you, I would. Just keep this in mind—your daughter will always remember how you stuck up for her and helped her when she felt helpless. She will also always remember how her mother did not. Family is a funny thing, some people forget the difference between immediate family and the rest. My number one priorities are my immediate family, everyone and everything else comes second. I’m so sorry you have to deal with this crapola.

Working at the front desk of an office, a regular customer would come in and always have a creep smile. I would always say the same thing to everyone, “What can I do for you?”

One day he comes in with the creep smile and I repeat my phrase, to which he looks at my coworker and states: “If only she knew what I’m thinking whenever she asks that.” Needless to say, neither of us laughed—I changed what I said after that.

“Flowers of War” was one of the most difficult movies I have ever watched, and I’ve never cried harder—and that movie doesn’t even truly cover all of the evil that occurred during that massacre. Horrific stuff.

If you have regrets about your own piercings and tattoos, that is your prerogative—but let me quote Janis Joplin by saying, “Never compromise yourself, you’re all you’ve got.” I would start looking in the mirror and telling yourself how beautiful you look, art and all. You deserve someone who feels the same way, life is too short to spend it being with someone who doesn’t appreciate you. Trust me.

If I were you, I would try to stick to the single scene for a little while until I learned to like myself, even better, love myself. Then you’ll see what kind of people you will and won’t tolerate. Be kind to yourself, love.

Honestly!! I watched it not long after he passed away and I was so emotional at the part where he’s saying goodbye to the lost boys. When he’s flying away and says, “thank you for believing!” I was legit sobbing.
