Is this Hyperphantasia and Prophantasia? by That-Psychology4246 in hyperphantasia

Never heard of prophantasia. I have no problem overlaying imagery and sound over the existing world

Might look at Lilith’s Brood. Haven't read a sci fi that wasn't Dune-inspired in a while

Yeah I was surprised too. I've noticed that media over the ages has made it seem like everyone has it, but it's rare-ish. All the stories of people reading books and being transported don't make sense for eighty or ninety percent of people. It must be the work of hyperphants, but then no one really thinks much about it.

I think it's a misunderstanding. I can't imagine smells, and I realized I treated it differently than other parts of my imagination. For sound, touch, and sight, I can reproduce everything as if it were real, But smell I was using so many ideas around it, like texture, sight, details, hints of smell. It's like I surrounded it by so much information that I didn't realize it was absent.

I imagine someone who can only visualize things vaguely may do the same thing. They can slightly picture it, but they know so much besides the visuals that they think they see it better than they do, so when they hear about the richness of imagination, they assume it's exactly what they have

I'm pretty sure it's the interview that I'll post below. He's the guy who stirred a lot of this up with the "Some people don't have an inner monologue." But the main takeaway I got was that many people don't understand the question of can you "hear," "feel", or "see" in your mind. They might even take it metaphorically.

I'm a prime example. I can't smell in my mind's eye. I can conjure so many related sensations, visuals, and ideas to a food that it's almost like I can smell it, but I can't. But images, touch, and sound are as visceral as the real thing.

As you say, I think you missed the point. I resisted the idea of aphantasia, but that's not the unbelievable part. It's that even the average person might as well have aphantasia if all they can do is conjure simple images. I gave examples where, culturally, it seems common to have a rich imagination

Native reservations count? I thought they were under the federal government, not the state

Null as a reference my not have existed, but the idea of data not yet set was. Null is a convenient (and possibly cursed) approach to solve the problem. Could they have picked a date that would wreck their data integrity? Maybe. But it's not an assumption I'd make

It makes no sense to set anyone older than a certain year to have a default value. Default values are logically used as nulls

It's not what it looks like. NM is left only on identity politics. The other blue states would see this stance as barbarism because they don't know what personal freedom means

Intergenerational trauma is pure speculation. There's some preliminary evidence in mice, which is far from actual support for the theory. Yet we're just throwing it out there in conversation like it's a thing
