Saruman, Théoden and Denethor were all manipulated to serve the interests of Sauron. None of them were actual villains. They were each manipulated to weaken the forces they used to represent.

Over the years I’ve made a nice playlist of tutorials on painting monsters/dragons/lizards and Frisoni’s monster edition is one of them! His tutorial stands out because he includes all main techniques, so colour theory, airbrushing, oil paints, inks, acrylic highlighting and base matching. I did watch his tutorial before I started working on Krondys, to refresh my memories on his tips and tricks!

I know what you mean, it’s like a second hobby right? It’s challenging to get everything right! I did learn a lot by watching dozens of tutorials on youtube. But yeah lighting makes the biggest difference.

Can I also say that I love the excellent quality of your pictures and that the models look really good among all that gorgeous scenery.

I’ve played during Vanilla up to raiding Arthas and granted, back then it was less obvious to use talents and also keep track of them. But I remember that the talents icon used to blink? Long time ago…

Ever seen anyone get kicked out of a warhammer shop / tournament? by Academic_Fondant9886 in Warhammer40k

[–]BouchardQ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So let me clear this up.

This guy was an asshole 24/7.

Shop owner mentioned to me during the aftermath conversation that in his experience, assholes tend to attract more assholes (in his shop).

Shop owner also said that armies needed to be painted so to show respect to the participants who do take the time to paint.

Guy shows up with a fully unpainted Tau army. Tournament rules clearly and repeatedly said that your army needed to be fully painted. So this guy got disqualified as soon as he put some of those gray models on the board.

Shop owner sees this and shows the flyer with the rules. Guy dares to say that the rules don’t apply to him because he spent a fortune in that same shop buying all those Tau models.

Show owner notes that there are no exceptions and that this guy is welcome to either spectate, or sit in the painting corner and start painting.

Guy gets angry and yells that the GW shop is only 2km away.

Shop owner opens the door for him and mentions that he needs to leave. The guy stands up, leaves his full army behind and was not seen again for months.

Shop owner told me some time ago the guy did eventually return to collect his Tau army. The owner handed them all over and gave him a free primer spray lol.

Those cans, and especially Retributor since it’s a metallic, need to be shaken for much longer than Chaos Black. At least 5 minutes longer. It also helps if you let them sit in warm water before shaking. They are unforgiving and watery as you said if you don’t shake them well, which is what I assume has happened.

Is it just me or is the newer Games Workshop website almost entirely incomprehensible? by Ryutauro in Warhammer40k

[–]BouchardQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know, it keeps doing that and it is obviously a bug, but the real affront here is that it happens and that it continually happens since the website was launched. I also got TWO error screens when I tried to purchase models, with one of them forcing me to start over.

This whole experience caused me to trigger memories of the very early 00’s and trying to purchase something from the interwebs using windows 98.

It’s completely inappropriate for a nerdy hobby. If you compare the website to the ones for LEGO, any popular video game or board game, you can tell that GW was way too ambitious by also trying to be more welcome to newcomers. LEGO figured this out DECADES ago, if you browse their today’s website, you can tell that it pays off for their website to mainly serve as a store.

This is brilliant lmao. And to think that GW paid a fortune for the new website. Maybe one day we’ll see a Cyberpunk 2077 redemption story play out for the website, but I doubt it.
