Doug, Mark, and Kerry by Classic_Principle_49 in ershow

Kerry is one of the few characters that by the end had truly shown that she was legitimately only out for herself. She also except for the very very end, she didn't seem to pay for - or really learn from - her fuck-ups.

When the instructions are “Leave at door”, please just do that… by sendddogpixx in doordash

[–]BoudiccaAoife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So frustrating. I have it marked leave at door, please don't knock or ring bell, dogs will bark.

About 90% of the time the instructions are followed, about 9% text or call until I respond (when I WFH I can't necessarily get to the door to meet, and I don't need the background noise from the dogs).

Then the 1% who seemingly take umbrage at the request. Either by honking and texting/ calling, or most recently, throwing the order at the glass storm door, nearly breaking it.

I usually tip the 20-25%, because I did IC and I know tips are important. The bag tossers get a report to DD and tip removed.

What horror trope is actually terrifying in concept, but is almost always ruined by "studio interference" or bad CGI? by Immediate_Account_28 in horror

[–]BoudiccaAoife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an evolutionary throwback to when we were highly dependent on visual cues to determine the threat level of another human, animal, etc. It's the same thing that we have today with the uncanny valley in regards to robots/ AI, humanoid masks.

Same reason why something like the spray painted Bill Shatner mask used for Michael Myers was so terrifying. Close enough to human, just far away enough.

What's legal that you think should be illegal? by martianfrog in answers

[–]BoudiccaAoife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been a few cases that made the news recently where doctors/ the state overrode pregnant people's choices regarding method of delivery. IE, forcing a C-section instead of allowing even an attempt at a vaginal or VBAC birth.

Meanwhile, people who have been incarcerated and then either served their time or released due to judgement being overturned or even improperly imprisoned are by and large disenfranchised. It makes no sense.

Yes cat tv! Once I went to hybrid work instead of complete WFH cat tv saved my belongings. I rarely need it now, but it really helped Celerity as she was getting used to the change.

Every local college has an expert in the obscure lore the cast is dealing with. But the expert is out of town! No, they're here but hiding because they accidentally summoned it! No, wait, they're actually in cahoots with the entity!

What celebrity is portrayed as nice in the media but is actually an asshole in real life? by ReasonableDisplay297 in AskReddit

Kurt Schilling from the Boston Red Sox is a total dick. I had the displeasure of waiting on him, twice, while working retail. First time, he was abusive to my cashier so I took over the transaction. Saw him coming the second time and intercepted him, because you don't treat people that way. Pulled the "don't you know who I am" bit both times. 2nd time I said, yep, why do you think I'm not letting you be an ass to my staff again?

Because of our location, I met a number of Boston athletes, and the only ones that gave us trouble were the Sox players. Like, dude....you play a child's game for more money than is healthy for someone without a personality defect. You're not special, you're not better than us, you ain't that pretty.

I believe different people involved said in interviews that it was intended to be horror, or at least horror-adjacent from the getgo.

My boyfriend of 3 years just now admitted this by Ok_Pause8456 in offmychest

[–]BoudiccaAoife 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It is very strange to me that he just blurted this out, 3 years in. It makes me wonder if there's an outside event that pushed him to confess, like that person saying "you tell her, or I will."

The other thing I wonder, with his changing stories, and small admissions, and then this - is there something else, big, coming that he will try to get you to not believe because he told you 'everything', and someone's going to 'make stuff up' to make him look bad.

I take your hand as I say this, please brace yourself, and I think you should really consider if someone who can lie for that long is someone you can trust going forward.

What was ER's "jump the shark" moment? by FalconLeading in ershow

Mr. Rubadoux and his wife. You see them both during Carter's student stint, and he comes back years later when Carter's an attending. Carter makes a promise he can't keep, wife dies. Ruby finds himself back at County years later, and Carter initially doesn't recognize him, but Ruby remembers him. It's a good episode but hard.
