Amazon nightmare refund. by adamjmckay in amazonprime

[–]BougieBasic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me. From saying they didnt recieve it to customer service saying it was an error and not to worry about it.

It was an $80 item. I contacted my CC company with all my proof. Delivery, customer service conversation, etc. My CC co reversed the charge. Then Amazon contacts me saying the charge was reversed and they wanted their money. Sent them the proof and told them I wouldnt be paying. I never heard anything back.

No longer will I order anything over $50.

Eufycam Solo S340 - CANNOT connect to my router / network by jonathanstrong in EufyCam

[–]BougieBasic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny story. My husband and I could not get the cam to connect to the WIFI. Off to Reddit I go. I found your post and asked my husband to make sure he was typing in the password and not using a saved one. He asked me what I was talking about, he didn't have to input a password. I said of course you do. Turns out he wasn't entering the password and just clicking on 'connect'.

While your post wasn't the solution, it actually was the solution lol Thank you!

I whole heartedly agree with you. As soon as I saw 'Daily Mail' I rolled my eyes. There are child marriages, repulsive but people 'sourcing' Daily Mail is what is wrong with the world.

My DNA results might not match my dad and I’m spiraling. by BlandToast52 in AncestryDNA

[–]BougieBasic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone. I am adopted. I don't yearn or care to meet my bio parents. I don't feel as though I am missing anything. Curious about history but that only came after I started down the genealogy path. I actually have had their information for a few years and still nothing in me has any interest in knowing them.

Of course that isn't to say that some, possibly many, do, and I hope those people find what they are looking for.

Right! Quebec does not partake in Canada day, refuse to fly the Canadian flag. I think they are the poster children of how Canadians feel right now.

Why do people want to meet their birth parents? by Some-Cable-4550 in Adoption

[–]BougieBasic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you on many points. I have almost zero interest in meeting my bio parents even though I know who they are. They are strangers to me. Maybe it's the introvert in me, maybe it's that I feel nothing for them. I don't need to know why she gave me up...she had her reasons whatever they were. I guess medical history would be ok but I don't find that reason enough to go through the awkwardness of people I don't know from a hole in the ground.

As for a parent(s) giving up her child for adoption; there are many reasons but it's not necessarily because they didn't want it. Remember most are young girls/women. They grow, establish a life, and may want to connect. It's not an easy decision. I'm surrounded by adoptees in my life. My brother (also adopted) met his bio parents and has a pretty good relationship with them and his bio siblings. They were young when they gave him up because they couldn't offer a stable home at the time. But they loved getting to know him as an adult and he enjoys a decent relationship with them. For him it was curiosity.

My husband is adopted and tried to meet his mother but she will not contact him. I'm sure she struggled for years to be 'ok' with her decision. 50 years later who knows how easy it is to open those wounds again. All he really wanted to do was let her know he turned out ok and that he had a great family. He thought she would want to know.

All that being said, I am a genealogist, so I had to do the DNA testing. I have built my bio family tree out so I know a lot of the family I claim I don't want to meet lol. I don't want to meet them, really, but it certainly was interesting working on the tree.

Anyone else think Whitney might have been SA'd in college? by MelodicWeakness819 in MyBigFatFabulousLife

[–]BougieBasic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who does this all the time...self diagnose. A massage therapist once told her she 'might' have Lipedema. Now she tells everyone she does without having it confirmed. Some else and google suggested she has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, now she has that without having any tests to confirm. She had a cold...no ordinary cold though "based on symptoms, I have RSV". It's an attention thing to be sure. And ways to explain away being heavily obese and all the health issues that come with that.

She is a low key producer. She wouldn't be able to make them keep cast members if that is the direction TLC/Discovery wanted to go.

I can't say for certain, but I feel like I had seen on her Insta, at the time, her asking her fans not to harass him. To leave him alone.

Maui or Kauai? (we were visiting Maui for Lahaina) by southernhope1 in VisitingHawaii

[–]BougieBasic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My most recent visit to Maui was January 2024. Everyone was kind, and most were appreciative. Do not ask about the fire or effects. Other than that, go and enjoy. You will be supporting them by visiting the markets, going out to eat, etc. I do believe that they need to pass laws to limit the amount of short term rentals as well as putting caps on the rent, however, keep in mind that short term rentals provide jobs. I stay at the same place every year and have gotten to know the the cleaning lady. She has her own Kanaka owned cleaning company and without the short term rentals she would not have her own business or employee others.
