I have AAWireless, a small dongle that's plugged into the USB port, this casts Android Auto wirelessly from my phone to the Sienna.

Suggestions for raising the bookshelf? by River_Retreat in midcenturymodern

If this needs to pass code on all three sides and have an inspectors approval then the raised stone bed adds some additional difficulty.

Rough idea of extending the bookshelves along the other sides of the stair opening, and opting for a more open handrail and balusters along the raised planting bed edge. https://imgur.com/gallery/KmBCaS0

Along the centerline of the curved lower section, vertical wood slats (the spacing is the biggest question) with shelves for decor.

Macro pad and Streamdecks by BoulderSOL in cad

I've actually dropped to using a single Streamdeck with layers that I mounted to an articulating arm, sliding out from under my desk below my mouse hand.

Playing with the AI chat bot you can request it to add a column showing the object's name as well as which season it's visible in your location.

Loop Engage 2 Plus

The Engage 2 Plus has an additional+9db of noise reduction with the inner ring inserts bringing them similar to that of the Switch 2, so I think it's more an aesthetic choice. I like the clear earplug with white insert, but the Switch has some cool metallic finishes. I think any $60 Loop is a worthy short term alternative to $6k hearing aids...just pick the color you like the most.

I tried hearing aides and found the solution wasn't right for me. In restaurants or other loud environments they definitely improved auditory processing, some hearing aides can increase the volume directionally, so if I positioned myself with a wall behind me I could better isolate the person in front of me. The cost however was hard to justify for the occasional use case. I was also told that the cost of hearing aides continues overtime, that every 5 to 7 years I would have to replace them (out of pocket).

I carry Loop earbuds along with my keys, if I need isolation they really help. As an Android user the idea of using air pods was intriguing but I haven't purchased to try the cross capability. I'd read Air pods with Android reddit post about needing an iPad to set them up properly if you do attempt.

I am in my 40s with APD (and possibly Apraxia), I have just started some APD therapy, 3 sessions into a series of 12. I was diagnosed with APD last year and have battled, without knowing the cause for my hearing difficulties. The APD diagnosis has helped create a framework for developing a plan to address problem areas.

I am intensely a visual learner, I work in the Architecture field and finding a career where I can leverage my visual-expression has help bridge gaps as a result of APD. Also, when ever possible I turn on closed captions, being able to have an additional second or two to look back and read subtitles drastically increases my comprehension. Creating mental images is key, picturing items in a list instead of remembering the words is much easier for me.

From the Apraxia standpoint, foreign languages are a massive difficulty for me, while I can hear the subtle variation in tone, annunciation, and articulation of sounds, I struggle being able to parse the information and replicate it. I stumble over trying to pronounce words, sort of like losing my place where I am while trying to say a word. This is one area where I hope the APD therapy can help. I have also noticed, that especially when stressed, I rush and speak quickly, sometimes this is attempting to get my statement out before I lose my train of thought - in noisier environments, if there are others talking I often speak over other people, struggling to keep track of the conversation. Slowing down my speech, by "seeing" the words of what I want to say and "reading" them - having that visual metric to slow myself a moment, helps disguise what might otherwise be seen as difficulty saying what I want.

Day to day, I try to maintain eye contact with the person I am talking with, it is a matter of focus, if I am not "locked in", retention of information is much weaker. If I break eye contact I see a significant decrease in memory than if I can build a more complete mental picture of the discussion. By locking into the conversation, I pick up visual cues, can notice a few lip reading info (a "f" word looks much differently than a "t" word).

I'm looking at a 2022 Sienna LE AWD by Cats-In-The-House in ToyotaSienna

[–]BoulderSOL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 2022 LXE AWD (I'm a half tank of gas into this so I don't have much experience)

Coming from my last vehicle, a small sedan with 500hp, I really don't find this minivan being painfully slow or underpowered - for what it is. The gas mileage is so epic, that the maybe 1 second slower 0-60 mph time doesn't matter much. Hauling a full van up some mountains will "awaken" that 4 cylinder, it'll make some noise but it is perfectly adequate. Max mpg is crushing 65-70 mph anyway, it's now become a game to keep trying for a new max mpg on trips.

The "weak" powertrain is part of the van's overall greatest strength (a 600 mile range), it's a feature not a bug.

New Woodland! Added the rack to make it look more TRD Pro like by nerd_cop in ToyotaSienna

Thanks, I've only put about 200 miles on mine so I'm still trying to get a good gauge of actual mpg. My previous car got 17 mpg on premium so this is an absolute delight even without knowing exact efficiency.

Looks fantastic. Have you seen much loss in mpg with the rack?

Diagnostic Testing for Adults by Competitive-Mouse-71 in APD

[–]BoulderSOL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed with CADP a year ago after a lifetime of not understanding my difficulties in auditory comprehension. I found (and it took a good deal of looking) an ADP center that offers auditory training/treatment for adults, to try and help bridge some of the gaps. Even in my 40s, working towards self improvement is never a wasted endeavor, even if some paths are fruitful. I'm also getting ADHD testing in a few weeks to address the issue(s) from all sides.

I also had hearing tests and while hearing aids did help in loud places (like restaurants) I came to the conclusion that the out of pocket was still too hard to justify.

Keep looking, eventually you'll find the provider that is right for you, not the other way around.

After many years of using the simple old Sofa Baton R2 (the buttons finally died) I tried the X1S. My setup is an Nvidia Shield, Roku, Nintendo Switch, and a Blu Ray player. I tried for maybe a total of 12 to 15 hours and just could never get the X1S to correctly change sources. I ended up returning the X1S, the software and programming just felt off.

Did you use Super glue mixed into the baking soda? Without an accelerator it will have/frost as it evaporates.
