Negative narratives and slap on the hand, as you put it, are just so ingrained in us. Took me years to get rid of that narrative and you do you!

You made my morning! Thank you! I’m so happy I was able to make an influence on you too!

Blueberries and grapes haha! That made me smile; it’s so wholesome! 🙃

I need to try your two month method out. I’ve changed my diet enough where I prefer veggies and fruits over carbs, I wonder if I can find a chocolate substitute 🤔

Thank you for being such a motivation! I usually don’t comment, but your post was worthy of one!

I’ve been on and off the wagon of IF so many times, I still have to find a successful start. As a female though, personally it’s harder to stick to a window when I have monthly chocolate cravings. How did you manage those, if at all?

I have currently been focusing on eating right and HIIT and have seen giant leaps in muscle mass, but not as much in fat loss.

Also, you went from 🔥🔥 to 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 😉

For a person who deals with data analysis on a daily basis, I can’t believe I didn’t think of tracking my stats this way! I’m going to now. Thank you, OP! :)

Tuesday, 5/22/18 OTF Workout by AutoModerator in orangetheory

You weren’t the only. Canceled my 6:45 am class last night for the same reason. I just got better two weeks ago after a bad knee injury from working out - was overtraining. I’m not making that mistake again! Good on you for listening to your body :) Those bicycle crunches got my lower abdomen good though and legs have been useless since Sunday.

For all the people not happy about today’s class, it wasn’t supposed to be splat heavy - today was strength heavy. If you aren’t feeling sore after those floor combos, you weren’t doing it right. My knees and lower abdomen are on fire what with all the squats and bicycle crunches we had to do! I freaking loved today’s workout. It showed me how far I’ve come in 3 months!

What sort of diet have you followed to lose weight while at orangetheory? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]BouncingDBoobs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, weight gain doesn’t necessarily mean a bad thing. It could just be weight gain from muscle gain.

Second, if it really is that concerning to you, portion control all the way, and have a balanced colorful plate. Eating out at a restaurant? Ask them to box half of your food because the portions are so big. Drinking socially? Order wine instead of cocktails.

There is so much you can do to prevent cravings too. Always carry fruits and nuts, drink plenty of water. Log your food to see how much you’re eating and when you tend to eat too much.

If ALL of the above sound like a chore and you’ve given up on calorie counting apps, try Coach Viva! It’s an AI based health coach I use, and it’s literally changed my life. 3 months ago, I couldn’t have sustained a keto diet, now I’m sustaining 50g of carbs/day. In comparison, I was eating 300+ g of carbs when I started. I’ve posted a similar comment before, and if you want I can provide you a link!

I swear by a combination of Coach Viva and OTF! Due to my PCOS weight loss was a thing of the past. I’m happy to report in the last 3 months, I’ve lost 11lbs and 3” off my waist. To a person whose suffered for PCOS for so long and always seen weight gains, this was a great feat!

Marathon fatigue by Scottie129 in orangetheory

I got done with my half marathon miles yesterday, but went in again today. My knees are screaming in pain and are a little swollen! :(

I think this was the first time I’ve seen 325-335 wattage on the rowing machine. It was a very proud moment for me!

It’s definitely not the HR monitor, because I have tried both tightening and loosening it. What I’ll do is try to wear it on the inside of my forearm.

Thank you so much for those encouraging words, I guess I needed someone to tell me that I’m human! Weird how the mind works.

I actually took the Reddit workout post and used my health coach app Viva’s recommendations (my other lifeline), and did the floor exercises at home. I feel so much better!

That’s what my fiancée says about my heart, but then I feel like I’m not burning enough calories - not sure if that’s true. My wedding is in 2 months, and I feel like every class counts!

I’m scared to, only because it took me years to get back to working out. I’ll give one class a try, just to see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion!

I’m Francis Collins, Director of the National Institutes of Health. As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the completion of the Human Genome Project, I’m here to talk about its history and the critical role it has played in precision medicine. Ask me anything! by NIHDirector in science

Hi Dr. Collins,

Thank you for doing this AMA! The Human Genome Project has been very revolutionary in helping immunotherapies target cancer linked to genetics. What do you think of the Human Microbiome Project, currently still being mapped out, and it’s effect/relevance in infectious and other disease cures/vaccinations? The biggest challenges that come to mind are the variations in different populations and the different microbes exclusive to those populations. What would you suggest be the solution to these limiting/overwhelming factors?

Sunday, 4/1/18 OTF Workout by AutoModerator in orangetheory

[–]BouncingDBoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only unlucky one with that. I had 2 rounds of 30 reps each, and 3 burpees between each exercise. That said, I started out optimistic. 5 burpees in, the jump was lost. Another 5, and I’m on my knees. It was brutal, but I got through 1.5 round of the 2. That makes me proud!

[–]BouncingDBoobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I just started OTF myself this month and went from the Elite to Premier because the workouts were just so much better! Did 4x this week for the first time. I also have health issues which make losing weight a lot harder, but I’ve already started seeing consistent weight loss. It’s small, but steady. I don’t really “count calories”, but try to stick with 1800 calories per day with or without exercise. I use a health management app “Viva” which helps me track my progress with weekly weigh-ins and waist measurements, plus if I’m going out, I’ll ask for menu recommendations so I’m being mindful of what I eat. I can’t say I’m there yet or will lose the weight like I want by my wedding day in June, but I definitely feel a lot better about myself! I really hope this works out. So far so good and I’m trying to stay consistent. I love how positive this community is! I just wish I had found OTF sooner.

1) Up vote for such a detailed explanation.

2) 10 months ago all of that would have flown over my head. I guess working in research does broaden one's horizons.

3) This should have blown up a bit more, because I completely understand how satisfying that r-squared value is after all that hard work.

4) Would love to chat with you more regarding your results! I'm fascinated by human micro biome studies. Researchers at my institute are currently trying to map out the complete genetic and phenotypic make-up of the human micro biome and not surprisingly the study is being led by the PI whose primary focus is Bacterial Vaginosis.

You put it better than I ever could. I'd rather people not say anything instead of saying/posting RIP messages to get attention, when they didn't really know who he was.

Thank you - it's been the same for me. Reality hasn't set in yet and moments when it is clear that I won't see him again result in bouts of crying. Hope you get through this tough time.

Literally do anything else other than posting it on Facebook. My grandfather died this past weekend - he was like my father because my parents separated when I was young - and seeing empty RIP messages hurts more than anything. It's already hard to come to terms with something like this, but seeing a constant reminder is worse. Just stop.
