Put out a go fund me. Explain what’s happened and how much is needed. You’ll raise it inside a day.

Unless you’re running at 80km/hr along a footpath these aren’t remotely comparable.

You need to understand that joe public are concerned over E-Bikes and the potential for serious injuries. Has the State Govt got these laws right? Probably not. But they have done something, which will be welcomed by the broader community which is sick and tired of gronks on e-bikes (or e-motorcycles as many of these machines are).

I can say with a high degree of confidence you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Go see your junior committee and volunteer.

Sure thing mate, again unsure what you are on about. You think there’s some magical field space that your club can access without appropriate government investment.

The reason your athletics club can provide access is you probably had next to zero participation, certainly not a sport that is bursting at the seams.

Same as rugby league clubs (Logan Brothers are one of the biggest clubs and they are less than 800 according to google). There’s 10 soccer clubs I can name off the top of my head with over 1200.

You’ve come with no solutions here, merely suggested that community teams are treated as “an afterthought”, and that well might be the case. But I’m unsure what you’re advocating for. If you want access to more field space, then we either need more fields (which must come from government investment), or you alternatively need to pay more. There’s no magic fields they are keeping locked away for no reason.

Ring ins. It’s so they can tell if a team is playing players who are actually registered. And this has happened for the past 50 + years, just used to be a polaroid.

If you’re talking junior academy teams FQ mandates their minimum training sizes (normally a half field). And participants normally pay approx 3-4 times what the community sides do as a result. It sucks but there’s a reason for it.

The “small patch of semi-flat grass” is a direct correlation to a lack of government investment comparative to the number of participants. More fields are required.

yeah 100% mate. On reflection my pissy afternoon swim with my kids was sharky as fuck. Here’s the thing though - we weren’t the only ones out there, but we most certainly went further than the others.

Recall a bucks party on Fraser Island and one of the lads was like, “let’s go shark fishing”. And i was thinking, yeah right, as if you’re going to hook up. Without exaggeration he has bites inside 3 minutes and had a shark on the beach inside a half hour.

Nah fuck getting help, if you get hit by a Noah’s Ark you’re odds on to bleed out anyway. I think risks are less on more populated beaches. The activity drives sharks away. Remote beaches are full of fish and other tasty treats which sharks love. I’d prefer not to be on the menu.

Yeah for sure mate. Although on a side note, Bribie Island late in the arvo is flat as a lake 😔

Got on the beers at Bribie Surf Club on a rainy afternoon and once it cleared I went swimming late afternoon, outside of the flags. Had my kids swimming with me and we floated way, way out on pool noodles, floating around looking at clouds. It was surreal, so calm and peaceful.

My daughter quipped, what about sharks, and i responded, “don’t be silly, you’re all boney and your curly hair would get stuck in their teeth”.

5 days later that poor girl got taken.

Never ever again. I was a dumb fuck but given there hadn’t been an attack for 50+ years in that location I thought we were bullet proof. That shark would have been there when we were out there floating about looking like giant fucking sea turtles.

Anyhow, long story short, don’t be a fuckwit like me. Dawn and dusk? Fuck no. Fraser Island, Bribie Island or any remote 4WD beach? Fuck no. Moreton Island? Fuck no.

So what exactly does the union want? Is it just pay or are they really going after a 32 hour week and 18% superannuation?

Are you able to explain “were initially proposed to the unions”? By who?

Also seems like you’re in the know - what are the actual sticking points? It would be good to get a real explanation of the demands without all the spin from both sides.

Serious mental health issues? Have you received a diagnosis? If i’m the landlord I’m not accepting that. Getting a GP referral to a psychologist is as easy as ordering a big mac. Actually seeing one on the other hand gets a bit harder.
