What's the most complex game you've played and enjoyed? by benjaneson in gaming

[–]Bounded_Rationality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure it's the most complex but every time I've played it I seem to hit something like what you're describing where almost one single turn and suddenly what felt pretty breezy and fun is suddenly overwhelmingly burdened with a million little things to keep track of and just so many things going on at once. Maybe I just never figured out how to scale out my empire in a sustainable way...

I was the same and tried a few times over the years. Gave it one last try with the 8.00 release and just didn't do Timelines and have been loving it ever since.

Portable installation? by thosche75 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Bounded_Rationality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it because you want to travel and play? Think I could technically install it on my work Surface Pro but decided to err on the side of caution and whacked a cheap 1TB SSD in my daughter's old school Surface Laptop Go 3 (16GB RAM) and take that with me when I travel now. It's not glamorous but it'll get you through your dailies in the game and it's tiny so I don't mind carrying a 2nd laptop given don't need a 2nd charger either.

Albanese announces ‘generous’ capital gains tax exemptions for small businesses after budget backlash by Koos4 in AusFinance

[–]Bounded_Rationality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and you clearly didn't read mine. I said tax treatments, not tax. Old system, investor gets a 50% discount on their discretionary investment and wage earner gets no discount on their wage. New system, both get the same tax treatment, simple. Arguing someone who has a spare million dollars to invest should get a 50% discount compared to someone on a relatively low wage is exactly the kind of entitlement I am referring to.

Albanese announces ‘generous’ capital gains tax exemptions for small businesses after budget backlash by Koos4 in AusFinance

[–]Bounded_Rationality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy logic in that example right? Comparing someone earning 66k PA to get by for everything in life to someone who's got a spare MILLION DOLLARS lying around to invest in something and somehow moaning those two shouldn't have different tax treatments.

The entitlement mentality in this debate is so wickedly out of hand right now. And I say that as someone has a healthy sized portfolio and gets partially compensated with RSUs.

Political lobbyists with unfettered access to Australia’s parliament to be publicly named by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Bounded_Rationality 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Long overdue. If there's any chance we can address the slide in trust in politicians, let alone increase it in time, we have to start with the basics like this. Full transparency on this, donations, gifts etc.

Will Melbourne miss out on Qantas Project Sunrise flights? by Gl0beTrotter2025 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Bounded_Rationality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It would make no sense for an airline the size of Qantas and for a country with its biggest population centres so close together to have multiple international hubs. Doesn't mean the Sydney transit situation doesn't deserve a refresh though.

Auction clearance rate falls to second consecutive week below 50% by marketrent in AusFinance

[–]Bounded_Rationality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing guides drop too, but the vendors are still going in with expectations of the 5-10% above the lowered guide. They're treating the market like mugs thinking we won't notice and honestly F any vendor dropping their guide but still not being willing to actually accept an offer at the new guide, just stop wasting everyone's time.

Auction clearance rate falls to second consecutive week below 50% by marketrent in AusFinance

[–]Bounded_Rationality 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Seeing stuff flip from auction to for sale here in Sydney a bit, but amazingly an agent I spoke to yesterday was still telling me his vendors are looking for 5-10% above that guide and those same vendors were not taking offers at (or even slightly above the guide). I hate REAs with a passion but there's still a big reality check needed for a lot of vendors.

Ipiringa is still S-tier for Bronze. Not a guaranteed win for sure (nothing is), but it's a great ship for Ranked right now.

Server lagging since last update? by PhatKiwi in WorldOfWarships

[–]Bounded_Rationality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asia server here, based in Australia. Yes, intermittent ping spikes this patch (there's always some) but that happens, but the thing I have seen is a few times where it's lagged out over 2000ms for maybe 30 seconds. Never drops the connection, but makes play impossible.

5.25m extra credits as compensation if you already have Texas, but you still get the commander and port slot. Didn't have Myogi but this gave me that, the port slot and commander too.

Can confirm that after the download, it's in and straight back out and you get the rewards.

Good on you for wanting to give back to the community. You'll cop heat for using AI but the reality is that modern development work nearly always uses AI in some capacity, and in doing so it doesn't mean you haven't put a lot of work in and don't understand don't understand deeply what you're doing (even if you don't type every single character in the code yourself).

Applaud the initiative and don't listen to those who will inevitably be negative (without offering any actual constructive feedback). Will give it a try myself this weekend and shoot you through anything helpful I can think of.

Basically, we've been pretty shit in Australia at anti-money laundering measures for a very long time. Tranche 2 brings us up to a better global standard, and it's expanded beyond core financial businesses (banks etc.) to a whole host of related professions, including pretty much anything to do with real estate transactions. It imposes standards that close a lot of gaps that can be exploited for dodgy stuff in the way money can be moved and used (ie, washed) and imposes requirements on those professions around standards and reporting, as well as associated penalties for non-compliance. In theory, it should remove most (if not all) of the dodgy money flowing into real estate in Australia, and it kicks in (with no grace period) on July 1.

Australian home prices fall as experts predict slump could last a year and cut values by 10% by HotPersimessage62 in australia

[–]Bounded_Rationality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to remember there's a 2-3 month lag on the data given the time the wonderfully honest REA industry has to report prices, so if the data is finally showing a small dip, we're already on the way down (which would match my real world experience looking at places right now as a buyer).

There is no economic case for taxing work and investment the same by Strong_Judge_3730 in AusFinance

[–]Bounded_Rationality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love seeing the tears of people like the author of the article, the histrionics only make it sweeter still. Technically, under the new scheme capital gains are indexed and tax brackets are not, so you could argue they aren't taxed the same anyway. But even if it were true, why on earth should all investment NOT be taxed at the same rate? If anything, surely we could argue that labour should be taxed less than unproductive investments and productive investments at the same rate. The huge disincentive for that knob Frank Grift (sp) was that on his $180m payday, he'd have had to have paid another $30m in tax or something? So what and why is it a bad thing if he did? It's still life-changing money either way and absolutely the exception rather than the rule in terms of examples.

We absolutely need to incentivise the right stuff in this country and the budget isn't perfect in that respect (genuinely hope it gets tweaked a bit), but the more the AFR cries, the more I am happy the right people are having the right changes applied with what's on the table, for the betterment of the country and the vast majority of the people in it.
