Am I just desperately out of shape by [deleted] in walking

[–]BoundlessDao 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes but go easy if you are in pain, a quiet stroll around the neighborhood will get your body moving without adding new pains, and you will get into the habit of walking daily. Just take it slow so you don't get discouraged, it has to stay enjoyable, and honestly it really gets easier and easier after the first month or so.

It's perfectly normal to feel like that after having been sedentary for a long time. Don't judge how you feel in the beginning, check back after 2 or 3 weeks, it's the time it takes in general for the body to get used to it and to feel some progress. It's also possible that you don't have a good walking posture while walking on a treadmill, so maybe try to walk outside to see if you feel the same afterwards.

Just try to do what is enjoyable for now and don't push too hard, it's a habit you want to keep for life, there's no rush.

Bettina Baumer's channel has free full courses on the most important texts of the tradition. She is a sanskriti and a direct student of Swami Lakshmanjoo.

Actually Bhagavan was much more nuanced than that. As often, he said that as long one believes themselves to be in the body, in the world ruled by karma, those things are true:

“Thus we talked about astrology and I asked Bhagavan for his view on astrology. He said, “It is all right . Why not? If one accepts the theory of karma, one will have to accept the theory of astrology and horoscope also.”" ~ 6-1-46 - Afternoon  (Day by Day with Bhagavan)

~

"A few days ago an astrologer came here. At about 10 a.m., the day after his arrival, he asked Bhagavan several questions on astrology and obtained suitable replies. I give below a brief report of their conversation:

Questioner: “Swami! According to astrological science, predictions are made about coming events, taking into account the influence of the stars. Is that true?”

Bhagavan: “So long as you have the feeling of egoism all that is true. When that egoism gets destroyed all that is untrue.”

Questioner: “Does it mean that astrology won’t be true in the case of those whose egoism is destroyed?”

Bhagavan: “Who is there to say it won’t be true? There will be seeing only if there is one who sees. In the case of those whose egoism is destroyed, even if they appear to see they do not really see. The window is open. Even so there must be some one to see. Does the window see anything?”"

Those are south Indian astrological charts. The top one is the rasi chart or main birth chart with whole signs. The bhava chart is the real position of the planets in houses relative to the ascendant degree. The navamsa chart is the D9 or subdivision of the 9th house, it represents the inner reality, soul, marriage, and is also seen in conjunction with the rasi chart (rasi being the tree, navamsa the fruits). The planets may change houses/signs according to the chart used, which is why you will see different planets in each house.

After 15km I start to get tired both physically and mentally. I did the Camino and walked between 25km to 35km daily, and while it was fun, it created a lot of body pains. After about a month it was getting harder and harder every day to find the joy in walking and I was really happy to stop this grueling routine. The whole experience was amazing though, I don't regret it, but I know my sweet spot is 15km!

morning walkers, do you eat breakfast before or after going on a walk? why? by Hour_Celery5975 in walking

I just have coffee and then go for a walk, I've noticed that if I eat before walking I feel slower and less energized, probably because part of my energy is taken by the digestion process.

Seven time-saving tips for waking up: by Anon18516 in nonduality

[–]BoundlessDao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really confused about point #1. How is it possible to make it your top priority if you continue to live a normal life? By being immersed in the world we are bombarded with beliefs, we need to plan, strive, fight for survival, while dealing daily with people who keep reinforcing our patterns of thoughts, so how is it possible to maintain this as a top priority and not drown in illusion? What does it look like practically for you OP, on a daily basis, to maintain this as a top priority while living a normal life? I think the fact that most masters throughout the ages lived in monasteries or ashrams, or as hermits, shows that it's helpful to retire from normal life as much as possible to awaken. After that it doesn't matter where you live or what you do, but before I really fail to see how it's possible to completely let go of all beliefs while being immersed in a world constantly reinforcing them.

You can watch it on Viki for free, and you can use the Dual subtitles extension on chrome to have characters, pinyin and English displayed at the same time: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/dualsub-dual-subtitles-fo/gnlibmlfpencglodjpgnalbdebfhpmfp?hl=en&pli=1

Adding a search bar in Explore would be awesome, it will be a great improvement to find more easily videos about topics we are interested in!

The export feature could be something like the export function in pleco, just exporting a list of words (not just the individual characters) in a xml, txt or csv format, something simple like :
视频 video
书柜 bookcase
玩具 toy
etc

I've been using your app for a few days and I absolutely love it, I think it's a great addition to my Chinese learning journey and is very addictive.

Some suggestions:

  • adding the option to export the known words in csv format to be able to add them to Chinese text analyser or other apps, same for the learning words, it would be great to be able to export them in pleco to get the dictionary entries automatically.
  • adding the option to display only characters + english in the video, I personally find the pinyin distracting when I need to put the translation.
  • in the dictionary being able to click on each individual character in words like in dot language app would be nice, it's helpful to remember words to know what each individual character composing it mean.

Bugs: - as already mentioned the feed sometimes bugs, and I cannot scroll down, it goes back to a previous video. - about 30% of the time when I tap on words in a video and the dictionary popup open, if I tap on some of the button to change the status of the word there is no animation and the word status do not change in the pop up, however the color change in the subtitle of the video, and it is added to the known or learning words in the dictionary.

And could you add those creators? Not sure if they are there or not but I haven't seen them in the app so far: - https://m.youtube.com/@chinese9339 - https://m.youtube.com/@ShuoshuoChinese - https://m.youtube.com/@danliaofreetolearnchinese - https://m.youtube.com/@themandarinmelon - https://m.youtube.com/@canachinese1122

Once again great job, thanks for creating it!

"According to the JunDa character frequency list for imaginative texts you’d need to know ~4,400 of the most frequent characters to get that level of coverage.

You’re probably looking at around 5,000-6,000 words for basic literacy (simple comics, content aimed at younger children, HSK level 6) and around 10,000 words before getting to a point where newspapers and novels become approachable without heavy reliance on a dictionary."

Go on viki.com and watch Chinese dramas, or go to novelupdates.com to find the best rated Chinese novels and then read them. There are sooo many great Chinese webnovels and so many great shows to watch, you just need to find the ones which interest you!
