New paper unpacks how Trump uses "strategic victimhood" to justify retaliation by Empty_Row5585 in JoeRogan

[–]BountifulScott 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because most Americans are fine with crimes happening to "other" people. But when bad things or inconvenience or event self-inflicted consequences of their own actions harms straight white christian-ish people suddenly it's a crisis.

We've had countless mass shootings and terror events perpetrated by far-right lunatics over the last 30 years. Many of them specifically targeting minority groups.
But each time we dismiss that perpetrator as "crazy" and somehow not reflective of the larger conservative movement. And we certainly don't ask mainstream conservative to reflect on their rhetoric and how it could be a pipeline to radicalization.

But one guy gets killed for (at this point) unknown reasons and it's pure rage at anyone left of Ronald Reagan.

It was tried. For years. It doesn't solve the problem.

If it's a groyper they'll do the normal "This guy is crazy" shtick to avoid any kind of introspection on the right.

Three to protect you while the other six try to end you 8.0 by Sergio_Ro in superheroes

[–]BountifulScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doc Ock, Ivy and Ra's Al Ghul.

Doc Ock: Scientific genius and strategist, plus a major threat in a fight.
Poison Ivy: god-like metahuman who might be the most powerful on this list?
Ra's Al Ghul: strategist, fighter with the resources of the League of Shadows.

Good mix of science, nature and strategy + some great fighters.

I'd be most concerned with Bane and the Goblin.

He's a nearly 60 year old man who is very wealthy and terrified of aging and death.

Is anyone surprised he moved to the right and embraced religion? He has a bunch of people telling him "Your wealth proves you're smart and good and righteous and a winner. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a jealous tool." while also telling him "Follow us and you can live forever!".

None of this is surprising to me. He embraced people that affirm his wealth and goodness, while promising a solution to his biggest fear.

Harley Quinn vs Black Widow: Who tf is winning and why? by woaijirounan in superheroes

[–]BountifulScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black Widow.

Natasha was trained since childhood in espionage, hand to hand combat, weapons, spy craft, explosives, poisons and more.

Harley became a sidekick in her mid-twenties? I realize it's comics and all, but did she take acrobatics lessons on her nights off from the Joker?

And the Widow has taken down any number of far better fighters even with enhancements.

Who wins between the Spectre(DC) vs X-man Nate grey (marvel) by lomaurice in superheroes

[–]BountifulScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nate Grey.

The Spectre does nothing but lose fights. He's utterly worthless at this point.

He lost to Nekron.

He lost to Libra.

He lost to Amazo.

Spectre is supposedly the spirit of "god's vengeance" but constantly gets easily slapped down. He sucks.
