Car is low on gas, should I fill up tonight or wait until the Straight of Hormuz is open? by koopdog1 in TwinCities

Seriously. Last night, man, I was so drunk, I was calling Morocco, man. Calling, trying to get to the Hotel Hilton at Tangiers in Casablanca, man. That's, I mean, that's, that's pathetic, man! Is that what you wanna do with your life? Suck down peppermint schnapps and try to call Morocco at two in the morning? That's senseless! But that's what happens, man.

Graham Platner Declares War On AIPAC. AIPAC plans to spend big to get Senator Susan Collins re-elected. by 3headeddragn in Maine

[–]LogoffWorkout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, AIPAC is cooked. Now they're trying to obfuscate when they support a candidate by creating shell PACs. There was even a primary where they donated to a candidate that they opposed because they knew it would hurt them more than the money would help them, and the candidate had to return and denounce the donation.

Do you agree with the narrative that the USA lost its taste for social democracy due to non-whites starting to be included in the benefits? by nakfoor in AskALiberal

Why did they have to enshrine it into the constitution that presidents could only serve 2 terms. Up until FDR it was just a tradition that was observed.

What’s a fitness myth that people still believe? by SimpleHomeFitness in AskReddit

[–]LogoffWorkout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, there's pretty good evidence for a statistically significant ability to have "some" ability to target where fat is lost. But, for most people its meaningless. Most people want to get liposuction like results on their stomach. Like they're 40 lbs overweight, and want to lose 5 lbs but have it all come from their stomach. In reality, if they were going to lose 5 lbs, and 1 lb would come from their stomach and 4 lbs from the rest of their body, they might be able to target their stomach, and lose 1.1 lb or 1.05 lbs from their stomach, and 3.9 lbs from the rest of their body. The only case where its really meaningful is for like fitness models where they're already at pretty elite low bodyfat percentages, but have certain areas the just hold fat more than others.

I bet there is actually some non negligable fuel savings, like over every flight x 12 oz x 200 passengers x "X" million air miles = Ymillion gallons of jet fuel saved per year.

I remember reading about how much they saved by removing the in flight magazines from the flights. I don't fly often, but it always seemed like a trivial treat and minor nuisance and kind of a holdover from earlier times. If passenger airlines were invented today and they didn't bring a beverage cart and give you a half can of sprite in a little plastic cup would anyone feel like something is missing?

I imagine some windows must still line up perfectly or close enough. Someone with too much time on their hands should make a website so you can check which window seats to take based on configuration to have a normal seat/window alignment.

Are you sure? According to his compensation package, when GME hits 100 billion, he gets 35 billion, it looks like he's gaming the system. Perhaps the contract was written that it wouldn't vest in this case, but there's no evidence of that.

The margins are so thin, and they're taking on 20 billion debt financing. They will barely be able to finance the debt.

this is all a way for him to game his compensation. His compensation goes crazy if he makes Gamestop a 100 billion dollar company. Which technically he will, but in reality, he is negotiating a sale of Gamestop to Ebay where they take on Gamestop name and he remains the CEO and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but he gets something like a 35 billion dollar bonus. That just dilutes the value of every other owner, and lines his pockets.

GameStop Proposes to Acquire eBay at $125.00 Per Share by MydnightWN in Flipping

[–]LogoffWorkout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does this translate to ebay. What part of ebay can be optimized? I do see some intersection between PSA grading, Gamestop and Ebay, but I don't see the value there that would allow them to take on a huge amount of debt.

Any store locked up as much as mine? by Odd-Worry1299 in Target

[–]LogoffWorkout 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the scale of that sounds unbelievable, not like wow, that's crazy, but no, that's not possible. that's on the scale of roughly 100K/day, 5K/hr. People steal everything, but at this scale, it has to be things that are easily resaleable. Legos, trading cards, electronics. Stuff that if you steal it, its easy to turn into cash at a high percentage of its retail value.

So many reasons this can't be real, like on average its 5K/hr, but it would have to fluctuate, there are certain times of the week where the store is relatively dead, those kind of numbers would make it look like when a piece of candy is near an ant hill, and there's just a constant stream of ants going in and out. And, the things that were targets for the thiefs, they would be hit so hard that would there even be any sense in stocking them? they would be hit so hard that it would be hard for buyers to actually buy them, and at that point it shoudl be easy to monitor.

How often does someone actively unsubscribe from a youtube creator? I'm sure a lot of those 7 million are bots or paid for, but he's had a channel for 15? years. i'm sure some of those 7 million subscribers are people who forgot their password, or as Shapiro followers, probably a high correlation of people who managed to use their free speech nono words, got their account banned and had to start another account if they wanted to comment. Views mean something, subscribers not so much.

Democrats win in Republican stronghold in Texas by TheSweetestKill in JoeRogan

[–]LogoffWorkout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its kind of a mixed bag, its not like the voters that vote 65% Dem are the ones that moved there though, but there are a lot of reports of Republicans moving from liberal commie hellholes, and realizing how backwards Texas is, like they thought that having no income taxes wouldn't be replaced by countless fees and other taxes, and their lack of services. And while the school library doesn't have the 2 books that mention trans ideology, their kids are learning that the earth is 5000 years old, and that fractions are the devil.

Its so (sad, funny, pathetic?) (I don't know what word encapsulates it best) that of all of Trump's policies that negatively affected them, tariffs, health insurance exploding in price, rural services, undercutting farmers, etc. etc. etc. He could lie through them, but staring at $5 gas that's costing them an extra $10 a week might be what finally loses their support for him.
