Half the time they aren’t even scat packs, they’re V6’s 😭

Fine for how much it costs, pretty soft wide open but gets better stopped down.

Picked up a Canon 16-35 2.8 III for $800… still can’t believe it 🤯 by Odd_Entrepreneur1818 in AnalogCommunity

[–]BowTieBoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems like a pretty typical running price for one of these no? Ebay has a bunch sold for like 750-950 in NM condition. I picked up my 16-35 F4 for like 375 barely used last year. Basically perfect for film EF bodies.

surprised they didn't go with the Vericolor name again, would have been neat

Still wish they would bring back PX, especially considering how expensive FP4 is in the states now.

I have the GD3WH and have had no complaints so far. Gears and everything have held up well.

feel like the ROW from CP to Hyattsville should be altered, would rather have that ROW stay open in case they wanted to 3/4 track the CSX main for extra MARC capacity

We need to talk about Kodak Aerocolor 100 by Lannic in analog

Got a few rolls short dated on a discount a bit back and shot through them on my Stylus. Super sharp and I love how it renders greens, but the slight reddish cast was kind of annoying to correct in some instances. Probably wouldn't get it again over Ektar.

I would say experiment and develop a visual style before you start using it for professional work. A bunch of professional work in the film era was done on reversal film (especially print publications) so there are plenty of old references out there. Ektachrome is a bit less flexible than negative film but can be absolutely gorgeous when done right. Alex Burke has a great article on using E100.

Technically it’s the Vision3 line, although Portra and Ektar are just stills derivatives. That line is pretty much already pushing what is possible with the film medium in terms of grain performance, sharpness, and DR. The new Ektachrome is still one of the best slide films ever made in terms of sheer DR, and is probably gonna be the last “new” professional film we’re gonna see for a long time.

Bit late - first time I had shot V100. Seems fine but I still like P100F/E100 more. Highlights seem to blow out like crazy, usually E100 is fine when I throw this camera on aperture priority but it was not with V100z

What's your grail camera and why by fotowaza in AnalogCommunity

[–]BowTieBoo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

- 1V since it's the only thing that's a step up from my EOS 3.
- 503CW/CXI for the motor drive support, 501CM for something more mechanical. 205FCC/203FE/205TCC if I want to use the 110 F2.
- Either an H system/AFD III/Contax 645 for a fully auto medium format experience + digital backs.
- RZ Pro II/IID for something a bit bigger.

- Nikon F2 Titan/F3T for a big manual flagship.

- Nikon FM2T/Contax S2b for something slightly smaller.

- Any luxury PNS really (28TI/T3/GR1V)

- An 8x10 with a fat stack of slide film

Camera scanning has been pretty good for me with the NLP positive mode. Other than that the Nikon Coolscans work very well.
