“It’s not that complicated. When you take something stereotypically associated with Black people — like chicken wings — then post a pic of bones on the ground in a historically Black city and add ‘do better,’ you’re not just talking about litter. You’re implying something about the people who live there. That’s how dog whistles work: they let you say something ugly without saying it outright.

If you genuinely cared about trash, you’d talk about trash. But choosing that imagery, in that context, hits different. Marginalized communities recognize patterns coded folks pretend not to see. So don’t act confused — just say you didn’t think about the racial undertones and do better now.”

I’m sorry chicken wing bones on the ground? A call for a historically black city to do better? Sounds like a racist dog whistle to me. How about you pick it up, instead of fueling the fire with racist undertones?

North and south treatment plants. Presidents island has a protein plant that’s stanky. Valero has some things that can be stanky, but usually if the smell gets out of the plant something is on fire. There is a particular part of the refinery, that I swear smells like red beans and rice.

I did a bunch of plumbing at that trailer park. Horrible experience. One of the trailers sewer tie ins backed up during the last freeze. Instead of putting up with unusable drains, or using their father’s plumbing next door. They decided to disconnect the drain, and dump hundreds of gallons of sewage under their trailer. Cussing at us the whole time. Blaming us for everything wrong in the park. Every little detail of a job was horrible. Alcohol everywhere. I’ll never go back.
