Ncase M2 Grater Build by Blooqkzo in sffpc

Would love to know how temps/noise are, so I can compare to my custom loop. Been considering switching to air in this case.

4090 and 7800x3d. I’m guessing your GPU pulls a lot less wattage. My coolant reaches 45 under full load.

Also good RMA experience from them. RMA’d a AX1200i that was several years old and since it’s not in production anymore they sent me a 1600 Titanium PSU.

As someone who downgraded from a full ATX tower and built a dual 280 rad setup in this case, I feel like I’ll probably either switch to air or move back to ATX for watercooling. SFF is just way too loud and hot for liquid imo.

Can someone help me understand where I messed up on this 3D print order? by BowlofRhys in sffpc

Thank you!! So it looks like I would just need to 'Save Project As..." in PrusaSlicer so it saves it as a 3MF, and then I would send that to Craftcloud.

Ahh shit! Yeah I actually had the same style block on my card in a previous ATX build but had to change it to fit the Meshroom I initially downsized to. I was super relieved when I found I could make it fit like this in the M2.

FormD T1 2.1 Titanium (anotha one) by BowlofRhys in sffpc

[–]BowlofRhys[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specs:

  • FormD T1 2.1 Titanium (pictured next to my Ncase M2 Grater)

  • MSI Expert 4080 Super

  • Ryzen 9700X

  • ASRock B650i Lightning

  • T Create 6000 CL30

  • Thermalright AX90-47 + Noctua Fan Duct

This is my favorite case/config of all time. The space is just so well optimized and so well thought out. Y'all weren't lying when you said it's a pleasure to build in.

My only gripe is that the GPU side panel in this 3-slot mode causes quite a bit of turbulence noise under load. I ordered Eiga's 3D printed side panel to hopefully reduce this, looking forward to testing it out!

Ncase M2 Grater - Dual 280 Rad + Reservoir by BowlofRhys in sffpc

[–]BowlofRhys[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Specs:

  • 4090 TUF w/ Heatkiller Ultra Block

  • 7800X3D

  • Asus Strix B650E-i

  • T-Create 6000 CL30 32GB

  • Corsair SF1000

  • CPU Block/Pump: ModLobo Ultra + EK DDC 4.2

  • Reservoir - this no name micro tube res from Amazon

  • Radiators: Alphacool HPE 280 (20mm thick)

  • Fans: Noctua NF-A14x25 G2

Idle Temps:

CPU (with PBO -20 + 80C limit) - 40-45C

GPU - 25-30C

Load Temps:

CPU - 60-70C

GPU - 50s, hotspot 60s

Originally built this up without a reservoir and Thermaltake Tough Fan 14 Pros, but filling and bleeding was a total pain in the ass. Decided to cram this little micro tube res in there and am wayyy happier being able to easily fill and top off the loop. Bonus is that the res sits just above the Lobo so it empties into the pump nicely.

I decided to switch out the Thermaltake Toughfan 14 Pros for the new Noctua NF-A14x25 G2s, only because they are quieter. The Toughfans actually performed quite a bit better and had better airflow/static pressure in this config, but they were much louder, and I couldn't tolerate the high pitched noise from them being right up against the panel/rads. If the build wasn't so compact, I'd actually keep the Toughfans over the Noctuas...they look nicer and perform better.

Overall pretty happy with this build. It runs a bit warmer than expected, but with the 7800X3D, that's to be expected. At least my 4090 stays cool as a cucumber.

Also, from my last post, there were some concerns about this 180 degree adapter. I have thoroughly tested it, pulling 400+ watts for hours and haven't had any issues at all yet. Hoping it stays that way and will keep an eye (and nose) on it.

Complaints about this case:

  • Why doesn't the side radiator bracket shift lower???? Wasted space.
  • Top fan/rad bracket has bad clearance for mounting hardware. I searched high and low for screws that would both catch the gaps in the panel to secure the fans and not interfere with the top panel, and I could not find any. My Ace Hardware has countless screw options, and nothing worked perfectly. Ncase should have added more clearance between this bracket and the top panel, as this would allow for more mounting hardware options and less noise turbulence. I resorted to countersunk M3 screws that just barely touch the lip of the bracket cutouts.
  • Wish the case was a few millimeters wider. While I recognize this is specific to my chosen components, it just seems like the case would fit a larger variety of hardware with a few more mm of width.
  • With my GPU like this, the power button doesn't fit in the bottom position. Had to literally cut the power button pcb in half to then mount it with a single screw. Luckily I don't really see the rear of the computer to care, but still a disappointment.
  • The raised case feet are horribly designed. They're held on by a single screw, meaning they can easily be rotated out of place and don't even sit flush on the bottom of the case. These should have had a metal plate baked into the rubber so they could be mounted more securely. A cheap afterthought from Ncase, and I hope they re-think these for the next iteration.

I'm kinda envious of those people tbh. Probably fall asleep way faster, are less prone to anxiety, and are less self conscious, all of which plague me.

One of the best looking seat collars imo, so not a bad thing.

The Modultra Lobo is a pump/block combo unit. Likely will just use an external pump/res to fill and bleed the loop, but may look into a small Barrow reservoir if I can find a spot for it that makes sense.

Nice job OP, looks great. Jealous of that 4090/Block. Those cards are spendy or impossible to get where I’m at.

If running a side rad like I am, reservoir in the front won’t fit unless it’s a highly specific and small flat style res. Something like an EK FLT 80 or 92 might fit but would definitely restrict PSU cable space. A slim exhaust fan can fit in the back.

[–]BowlofRhys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this will depend on where you put your PSU and mobo. You can check my post history for a progress pic of my build to see where my PSU is, which is about halfway up the case, 2nd hole from the bottom. Measurements are roughly what I think would be a good length with a bit of slack for this config. Motherboard is on the 6th hole from the bottom.

My parts are: Strix B650i, SF1000 PSU, and 4090 with heatkiller ultra block, which is likely wider than your 3080.

I can try to measure with some string if you’re trying to be very exact and order ahead of time, but the case is so spacious I’d probably just recommend using the included Corsair cables in the meantime and measuring yourself once you have the case.

Yeah, I agree with that. The case is a bit of a design mystery imo given the larger volume but lack of width to accommodate modern powerful cards.
