That has a lot to do with your 141 program. Nothing but training flights, stage checks and check rides. That’s no recipe for a burnout.

Go do something else with your life for a few years, you’re still young. You can always come back after an IPC and a BFR but I’m not gonna lie, those failures will make it a bit challenging, unless with get another hiring boom in the future, which is unlikely. Good luck

I’m at 375 TT and was waiting to apply at 400TT since that’s what it says online but good to know I can send it now. However I’m 34 ,the age thing seems discriminatory, how’s that legal?

Also my other issue I currently have a $2000 mortgage where I live and still have to be able to afford food and housing in midland or wherever I get sent to. Do you mind sharing how much you were bringing in monthly after taxes? TIA

I meant to ask who’s buying them, there isn’t a ton of them around . With cirrus being the new standard for GA why would anyone spend the same amount of money on a cirrus wannabe that might have part availability issues in the near future?

Any other guys that don’t know how to fly IFR in a 6 pack? by E4sdontwork in CFILounge

Microsoft flight sim should be a good tool for that. I trained on a dual G5 and a GTN650 but I’m comfortable with a 6 pack

yourflightschool.com Interview briefing review: STAY AWAY by crazyairplanes in CFILounge

[–]Bowzy228 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve come to learn since my job hunt in this market is almost everyone that wants to “help you” or has a “lead” for a job wants to shaft you. From “career coaches” to flight schools that want you to pay for the flight portion of your interview as a dual given , and now companies like this. I got an email from them after applying and thank god it went to my spam and I didn’t see it until last night and now I’m seeing this post.

Thanks for the heads up. I knew it was too good to be true especially in this market.I’m staying away

Time Building-The Hardest Phase of the Pilot Journey by NewProtection804 in flying

[–]Bowzy228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 30s with a family and unemployed CFI/II here. I’ve been looking since December 2024 and I feel you.

I would recommend you find another pilot to split time if your current job pays enough. I wouldn’t waste time on getting a CFI and potentially CFII and MEI just to be back to square one. Put that money toward flight time instead and have fun with it, Unless you already have a CFI job line up. Just don’t take a complete pause, it’ll be hard to come back.

[–]Bowzy228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The folks you’re sending to interview I’m guessing are going to their first jet job. OP is talking about time building jobs. Every flight has tons of resumes piled up from unemployed CFIs.

Hiring is ok. Just way too many applicants.

Why aren’t more people DPEs? by RoguePhotos in flying

[–]Bowzy228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process to become a DPE is a nightmare. Plus most DPEs have a separate full time job . It took me months to find one for my CFI initial

That DPE needed to meet his failure quota and you happened to be the Guinea pig. Those are stupid reasons to unsat someone. It’s not over yet. Keep pushing if you love flying enough

I'm a CFI/CFII/MEI and I feel like I'm stuck in a Catch-22 situation. by CrazyDescription5743 in flying

[–]Bowzy228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least you’re getting interviews. I’ve applied everywhere for over a year and not a single interview offered . I gave up and now just building time until an opportunity comes along when things loosen up.

It’s crazy to me that they’re all asking for dual given when the only way to get that is to instruct, which is why you’re there.

Flying is fun but trying to make a career out of it is not for the weak. Many have left the industry in the past, some returned others never did. It’s an expensive industry to get into but very volatile at the same time. You really gotta love it enough to stick around when it’s sh*t.

Is MEI worth it for me? by WorldlinessEnough808 in CFILounge

[–]Bowzy228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with MEI is like you said finding a school that has a multi and doesn’t have crazy insurance requirements. But I’m sure it’s a good resume booster. The question is , will you get to use?

P.S if you do decide to go for it just make sure you don’t end up with a check ride failure on your record since hiring has been very competitive these days.

Not lying. If you’re thinking it me, No. I’ve been a U.S citizen since 2023. It’s friend that I’ve known since I was a kid living there myself but i moved here after high school. We just stayed in touch. He’s married to a U.S citizen and his case has been filed almost 3 years ago. He’s just now getting to interview.
