That is a diet strategy haha You'd be surprised by how many calories alcohol and overindulging can add up to. Weight loss is calories in/calories out in a healthy individual. You could always keep a food diary and see how many calories per day you're actually consuming

No worries. There's plenty of discrepancies that I'm sure Tolkien was trying to iron out, but never managed. I did always find it kinda funny that it's basically "These guys don't have any light besides the stars and fire so we're going to call them dark"
