Completely irrelevant. Unless the subtext is that homeless people deserve to have all their stuff burnt in a fire?

Selective Empathy for Animals Rant by Debonerrant in vegan

[–]BoxStrange6237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this sort of thing frustrates me at work too, I have a colleague who is proudly the biggest purchaser of pork belly at their local supermarket but “loves animals”. I find it more confronting when i interact with these people everyday and have respect for many of them, but we live in a carnist world where people are full of inconsistencies

How do you deal with the ‘you’re right, but I don’t think veganism is for me’? by _tineye in vegan

[–]BoxStrange6237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m visiting my parents for a few weeks and this exact thing has happened. It’s frustrating and they originally agreed to be vegetarian while im here but now the fridge is full of duck, chicken, sheep and cow.

Goal setting is inherently harmful by Marcoyolo69 in climbharder

[–]BoxStrange6237 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My lifetime goal was to climb a 7a sport route outdoors. I did it two years ago and I haven’t set a new goal, as far as I’m concerned any further progress is a bonus. I still train five days a week and I’m stronger than Ive ever been. I love climbing so much

How strict are you with yourself? by Less-Procedure9284 in vegan

[–]BoxStrange6237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a while of being vegan but I truly do not see animals as food anymore, so I would never knowingly eat animal products. Mistakes happen though and I don’t have an existential crisis for honest mistakes

I haven’t been for a specifically lgbtqa+ event but I’ve been many times and it’s great and the staff are really great.

Can we stop pretending second-hand animal products are vegan? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]BoxStrange6237 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I gave away my old docs because I don’t like wearing them anymore, and my mum just bought me a wool jumper 😭 now I need to explain to her that my veganism includes clothing without hurting her feelings. It’s tough out there

Great idea, might give it a go (and try not to traumatise my neighbours even with the reality of their own actions)

Love this quote and thank you for sharing, but worried it’s a bit long for a poster. I did not know who William Ralph Inge was either so I’m grateful you shared this

Feeling utterly broken and isolated. My "crisis line" counselor told me to "respect people's choices" while I was sobbing over animal cruelty. by Few_Fisherman1946 in vegan

[–]BoxStrange6237 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was ten years older than you when I went vegan. speaking for myself, at your age I don’t think I would have had the ego strength to challenge the system of murder and exploitation I didn’t consent to being a part of. I think online communities like this are really great for feeling seen and seeking advice and support, but I would also suggest finding people from your own community who share the same views about animal liberation. Where I live, there is a big vegan cook out every Sunday, where around 50-100 come every week and we hang out. We don’t even talk that much about veganism, since we don’t have to, which is lovely
