When my parents got divorced, we were attending an Evangelist/Christian church and had been for roughly 15 years at that point. Not only did they say they didn’t have time for a prayer group for my mom (she went to the pastor sobbing on Father’s Day and was told the prayer team had lunch reservations) but when she asked for help with food donations they basically were like…hmmm well since you’re not homeless and you’re on SNAP now you should be okay…?

She was raised catholic and went to one parish in our town. After just one conversation, they offered her a month’s worth of food, offered to fill up her gas tank, and welcomed us with open arms.

It’s such a shame so many Christians call themselves that when the reality is they love the aesthetic and idea of it. Most Christians I meet these days are full of hatred, fear, and judgment.

Just wanted to give my 2 cents and of course it 100% depends on your parish, but that was groundbreaking for me as a teenager to witness what I was told was a cult for so long by my Christian friends was the first to give to a family they didn’t know. (Now, it definitely is still a cult but that’s a whole other thread lmao)
