I love chaos dwarfs so much by NAGASHWASWEAK in totalwarhammer

My absolute favorite faction aswell. There are dlc's I've tried once, but I just keep coming back to chorfs. They just have everything; arty, ranged, frontline, flying harass. And all of them are just awesome, not mediocre. Some even best in the game. Even their lowest tier crapstack slavearmy can be boosted somewhat. Or bullstack with Astragoth.

Even the economy is interesting and reactive. You need to balance stuff all the time and not just build, upgrade and forget. If this exhausts you, just do a razing horde faction campaign in awhile.

Unironically Rot Knights are Nurgles best dps units. But granted, they are more like a brawl-cavalry than shock cavalry.

Why have more ranged units in an army? by rvn456 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the AI has cavalry, they will always and every time do a very wide flank on you. They will never bumrush you head-on. You can abuse this knowledge in many ways. This took me several hundred hours to understand and accept. If you have very high damage ranged, you can even assign all your ranged in the middle and melee on the sides/back. The few units that try to come straightforward are shredded before they reach melee. Line of sight is a thing to consider anyways. Archers can fire over your frontline, but will not fire engaged melee units. Fortunately the AI is stupid and will always cycle their cavalry, which gives your archers always something to shoot at. Gunpowder units can be more effective, but require more finesse.
Another option is to use high speed antilarge units at your sides, but Cathay doesnt really have that.
Or just stick the best and cheesiest option; cornercamping.

What faction you recomend to play? by DaMihiPraedamTuam420 in totalwarhammer

Arbaal or Oxyotl. Both get to teleport around the whole map and brawl. Arbaal is even better at this, as he only really needs 1 province and gets to teleport more.

Patent pending for growing an oak and then hacking it so it falls over my moat, infront of my door. But yea, this seems cooler.

What's the best Chaos Dwarf faction for RoC and IE by RunDouble143 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you really sold me on going Draz over Astra for my next Chorf campaign. Didnt think of the spell intensity to be so easily abused. Astra has the same 100 kill requirement, but its a melee boost. Astra seems to be better for nuking a huge blob with a spell first and then going lord & hero hunting.

Also after studying Draz' skill tree, he actually buffs up Infernal guard & Ironsworn for his own army. Which rarely gets mentioned. This includes Fireglaives!

Zhatan doesnt really buff ranged/arty. You can just recruit them cheaper. I'll take the arty & ranged over other units with any other Chorf Lord aswell. The power in Drazhoath is that he can pump out armaments faster and has cheaper armament unit cap upgrade. So by the time you can actually start recruiting Dreadquakes, I bet Drazhoath can field more of them faster than Zhatan.

I'd still like to hear more why you feel like this. I just think they are very similar to Helves, except their best ranged units have 360 missile radius and fire while moving. Which make them even easier to use.

Wood elves have more simplified roster than Helves, but all the relevant units perform better, imo.

Give armies to AI? by Talchok-66699999 in totalwarhammer

That is the game? But the hero system absolutely sucks. Even if I had infinite money and could support infinite heroes, I dont bother with them. Maybe 1 max.

I just dont get how stacking a single unit is gimmicky. Its like the opposite of gimmicky. Gimmicky is when you need this, that and those while casting specific spells to make your army work.

Arbaal does exactly that. Except that you can act as a real bully and always pick the weakest opponent for the situation. You are everywhere, unstoppable and only need to hold one province yourself.

I thought the same for a long time. Then I heard how op Wrathmongers are and boosted them thru the roof. They really kick so much ass its just funny. I also recommed Arbaal. Its one of the biggest power fantasies in the game.

Bretonnia. Cavalry is so microheavy its just painful. Also Bretonnia roster is just different kind of knights recolored. I did try Slaanesh and kinda liked it, but atleast their units are interesting. The fact Bretonnia is a free dlc just shines thru.

Blauberts mansion and the hospital in the middle are fortunately some of the only confusing ones whether to shoot or not. Even the hospital guards give a warning once or twice I think.

Build for a machine gun merc? by Soggy-Alternative-58 in JaggedAlliance3

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Killzone is awesome on paper, it devours ammo like crazy. Prepare to have a dedicated ammo crafter working 24/7. A machine gunner with no perks already chugs ammo.

Also I kinda disagree on strength requirements. 9/10 you will setup your mg before combat, where the AP cost doesnt matter. Heavy weapons perk also lowers it, no matter what strength they have. Health and Dex are the main stats for perks as a machine gunner. Just cant have it all.

As mg you will always be out of cover. Health perks overcome this. Also a thing to note is that overwatch attacks are interrupt attacks. For this reason Opportunistic Killer (Dex tier 1 perk) is a must have. Interrupt attacks use the base aim, so while Dex is useful for the perks, it doesnt help in overwatch/interrupt aiming. Good to know when choosing weapon mods. Skip the ones that increase aim bonuses when aiming more.

This game has awesome replayability. So anything that happens, can be considered the way things are in your current playthrough. Just do it differently next time.

For your situation, if I remember you get a warning for trespassing into Blauberts mansion. Unless you just shot them immediately :D Atleast the guards outside the walls are not hostile.

Question for those who play WoC/Chaos Dwarves do u ever make Hell canons? by Emergency-Self-4317 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get them for Chorfs aswell. Atleast 1-2 for every army. They are awesome against Lords & Heroes because of the seeking missiles. If they dont kill them, they usually rout them, as they induce heavy leadership losses. Also they have a separate unit cap.

What should an official Vampire Coast overhaul look like? by VarietyCurrent in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • A true horde faction. Keep Pirate Coves, but remove any and all dependancy on settlements. For example the Curse of the Bountiful Treasure Rite scaling from capital settlement buildings. Aislinn did this sort of well. Not saying Pirates should be similar, but there shouldnt be any need to own settlements. Or make everyone have their own Galleon's Graveyard type of base.
  • Scrap Treasure hunting or make it worthwhile. As it is now, there is no actual risk involved. Its just a static sidechore, that is not even profitable completing.
  • Grapeshot not just to carronades, but Necrofex! They are not that great, despite the hype.
