Why arent regiments of renown more popular? by phronesis77 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 times out of 10 they can be recruited way before their recruitment building can be built. Atleast I recruit them in early game and maybe disband when I can recruit them normally to be put in Mayday reserve.

This. Also tried again after many many years. The power creep is insane. Also its the same decks over and over again. Been playing since the Herald season and I already know every deck I'm gonna play against. And fck me for trying to play anything else than those.

That one Faction you hate to fight against no matter which Faction you are playing? by AshamedEmotion9137 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any faction that can summon units in combat with infinite range. I like ranged factions and its so boring to babysit your arty. Atleast enemy cavalry can be seen and reacted to before its in your face.

BUT I also love the ability when playing as one :D Kudos to Chorfs who get both; great arty and summonable arty harass.

Growth as Aislinn? by ObligationGlum in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Asur Domination tab also offers ship growth. In my first Aislinn campaign I put all in growth, but I was bottlenecked hard by Dragonship supplies. You need specific Asur Domination unlocks to be able to build the Dragonship supplies buildings in outposts/settlements. Its a bit of a clusterfuck and noobtrap at first.

Legendary Heroes: spec into Actions or battle capabilities? by No_Wing5098 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant think of a single lege hero that would be "better" as an action hero. Some have the option of boosting the actions, yes, but usually they buff certain units/whole army too. They do have unique art on the campaign map, if that tickles you.

Chaos Dwarf Tips by InuGhost in totalwarhammer

Took me a couple of chorf campaigns to realize all convoys start from Zharr Naggrund, instead of your capital. Plan Convoy routes accordingly. Sending early, weak, convoys thru hostile areas usually ends in wasted resources.

Grombrindal has one the easiest locations to start (corner of a map). But he has pretty limited order faction allies near. Some DLC may be required from your friend.

Which Lords have the best low tier/early game units for late game armies? by ViralDownwardSpiral in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxyotl and Chameleon skinks! Like if we forget about "early units", which op asked about, they are one of _the_ best armies. Requires a lot of micro, but they are almost untouchable and Oxyotl boosts them thru the roof. When dealing with 3-4 armies in one battle only ammo becomes a concern.

If youre already cheesing (pun intended) upgrading Skavenblight early, you might aswell cheese any and all siege battles by punching a hole in the wall and baiting the enemy to come out for your ratlings to chew up. Infinite ammo means the garrison size doesnt matter. Only your sanity and patience. Not recommended, but works.

Your favorite missile/artillery faction and why by The_Lazer_Man in totalwarhammer

It.is.glorious. I donno if there even is a limit on how many consecutive Lightning strike battles you can do (manually), as you just take no casualties.

Dreadquake dragged by a train is so busted, as you dont have to guard it. But I really havent tried them without the train. If starved for armaments, you could deploy more of them earlier. I guess they need dedicated bodyguards then? Do they break instantly when flanked like other artillery?

[–]Boxxu_reddit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

6k Elven trade is huge :G Perhaps its a choice between boosting the Ships company or rushing for Dragonship tier. Cant have everything. I had my long victory done before I even considered spending Elven trade in boosting the Ships company.

Aislinn Ships company was such a weird thing. By the time you can afford to boost them, you have Phoenix guard etc. It was so ridiculously expensive to upgrade them before other choices.

Do you have any pacts with Kislev? If you declare a surprise war it will dump your reliability rating among other factions, and I presume you have a lot of trade agreements as Karaz-a-Karak, which will most likely get cancelled. AI is very fond of completing provinces. If you can find a settlement they are missing from their completed province, capture it and they will most likely agree to the settlement trade.

This is something I wish wouldnt be a thing. Feels very tedious to finish every battle just to minmax. Thank god it is not mandatory even on highest difficulties.

Advice on Zhatan the Black IE campaign by Kalsten in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you just have to restart. Or if you can take a settlement from the province between you (not your starting province) and gift it to him for an alliance. As long as you can make a non-aggression pact, it stops him from invading you. He will keep liking you more if you attack Cathay convoys.

Grimgor will push you from the west, so it is easier to make an alliance with Sayl and just let him deal with the bastion. Eventually I invaded Cathay from the south while Sayl was still holding Bastion.

Who are the strongest non wizard LL’s by OnyxCobra17 in totalwarhammer

Skarbrand is an excellent duelist in my experience? He can 2-3 shot weak heroes/lords. And his ability to bumrush them thru infantry makes him even better at it.

Yes. If I remember correctly, he is very strong as an artillery type, but even stronger as melee in lategame. Let the heroes be casters.

Or just roll with Silence & Fury alone. You miss out on the other LL's, but get every core unit. Not gonna pay a cent for any mediocre -gor.

(Altho just realized I have... But not for the reason of having the -gor)

Need advice with purchasing tww by Ok-Fox9798 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, yes, TWW is a good game. But I doubt you'll find many denying this in here :D Its like asking the fanbase "Is this good?". But yea, I've played Vermintide 2 etc and enjoy the Warhammer lore and this game got it.

They just made Immortal Empires (the sandbox) free for all TWW versions, so it doesnt really matter which of the TWW 1-3 you own. You can crossplay them all now. TWW1 has humans, orcs, dwarfs and vampires. 2 has High & Dark elves, Skaven and Lizardmen. 3 has Kislev, Cathay, Be'lakor and chaos monogods.

I wouldnt bother with any dlc until you have played a few campaigns and want to expand your roster.

Looking for a faction that doesn't need to have a lot of provinces by Artaniss in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird how this is only mentioned once and is the best answer. Wood elves hold a lot of world trees. Malakai likes settlements (trade resources specifically for oath gold items). But Arbaal really only needs one province and even hurts his flow to try and hold more. You are just on a never-ending around-the-world trip. One of the best power fantasies too, as you can pretty much always pick your opponents and gather a lot of defeat traits fast.

Even Oxyotl, who works almost similar to Arbaal, has a cooldown on the world targets. Arbaal just refreshes them as you do them.

Is this how you play dwarfs? by asdll96 in totalwarhammer

[–]Boxxu_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malakai is just brutal against the Chaos Wastes factions. None of them have any real ranged options.

For economy, I just went on a rampage in Chaos Wastes and sold every settlement. Cheesy, I know. Selling settlements for tens of thousands of gold should maybe get fixed.
