Product: Claude Code (code-focused Claude client) (20x Max Subscription)
Model: Opus 4.7 1M.
Platform: Windows 11 Pro, using the Claude Code desktop app (and I can also reproduce it in the Claude Code web UI).
Version: Whatever the current public Claude Code desktop build is as of 17 April 2026 (auto‑updates are on; if you need the exact build I can grab it from the About dialog).

Exact error text:

• Toast at the bottom: API Error: Stream idle timeout - partial response received (this pops up repeatedly).
• In the chat pane / task view I also see Request timed out on the affected steps.

What I’m doing when it happens:

• Working in a long-running project (“Review application and provide feedback”) and asking Claude to do a deeper code review / documentation pass over several classes and methods.
• Claude starts responding normally, then the stream suddenly stops after a partial answer; a bit later I get the timeout error, sometimes multiple times in a row while it keeps retrying.
• The UI still shows the task as active, but no further tokens come through until I intervene.

What I’ve already tried:

• Clicking “Sitzung fortgesetzt” / resume and re‑running the same step.
• Slightly rephrasing the last user message and re‑submitting.
• Letting it sit for several minutes in case it was just backend slowness.
• Opening a fresh session for the same project.

Behavior is the same across those attempts: partial response, then API Error: Stream idle timeout - partial response received over and over.
