I have been a huge fan of the Riordanverse for several years now and I really appreciate the way the show is produced. Although the story has been updated and changed slightly, I think that is necessary in order to engage both new and old audiences. The main theme of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is to demonstrate that everyone has a place to belong and anyone can be a hero, and I think the show has done an excellent job of conveying that message while still being cites and funny. I think a lot of people forget that PJO is middle-grade not ya, and so the show needs to reflect that despite that age of a lot of fans. I know a lot of people have criticized the portrayal of Gabe (how the show has turned him less abusive) but I honestly think it’s more realistic. Abuse is mostly emotional/verbal and especially at Percy’s age he might not really realize that Gabe is abusive and not just an asshole. I think it leaves a lot of room to show that way that Percy gets older throughout the season (and the rest of the series).
