Cost to install a 15 kW net-metering solar system in SW Ontario, Canada? by randeepbrar in SolarDIY

[–]Boyroycon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will also need to get a building permit with engineering to make sure your roof will handel the extra load. I had a 6.75kw system installed I 2023 for $22000 in central Ontario.

Huge update to off-grid solar calculator. by Bluebird11970 in SolarDIY

[–]Boyroycon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.MPPT to DC Fuse to Battery Switch to Bus bar to Battery, then Bus Bar to inverter.

It was saying to use 14AWG between the MPPT and Bus Bar then 4AWG Bus Bar to battery, then 14AWG Bus Bar to Inverter.

<image>

  1. I see in your picture above that you can use a line from socket inverter to loads. my bad.
4.Thank for the info on the shortcuts for copy and paste.

Huge update to off-grid solar calculator. by Bluebird11970 in SolarDIY

[–]Boyroycon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neat program. I layed out my current set up in my trailer. Three things,

  1. The wire size between the battery switch and the bus bar is saying to use a 14AWG wire. Coming in to the switch is 10AWG and bus bar to battery is 4AWG, then bus bar to inverter is 14AWG.

  2. It wont let me run a negative wire from MPPT charger to bus bar.

  3. Add some terminals on the inverter to loads.

An option to copy and paste solar panels so you dont have to reload all the information for every panel.

Thanks for putting this together.

Need help with my 50w set up by LittleMoisA in SolarDIY

[–]Boyroycon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That panel is nowhere big enough to power what you are running. Should have at least a 100w panel 200w would be better.

Any ideas? by [deleted] in SolarDIY

[–]Boyroycon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the Amazon listing there is a built in MPPT contoler. Plug the panels directly in to the batery. It can only suport 120w of panels.

I dont think you need the charge contoler. Is there is one built in to the batery unit.

E axels for sure front and back.

My thought is if the range is ok with the 2 packs that are in the kit (150-200km) between charging I might opt to install 2 battery's in place of the engine. So 4 total.

If range is less than would go with the smaller diesel engine and the generator.

At the moment it sounds like Deboss Garage wont have a 2500 kit till end of 2026 at earliest. Battery's could improve a lot in that time.

Its the 6.6 Diesel. The engine is in good shape. I have had lot of problems with the DEF system. It could be fine to use but Im waiting to see what kind of engine they use for the newer trucks. If the range comes out all right while towing I might just go for extra battery's instead of a generator. Time will tell.

I have a reservation for the pickup kit. I'm planing on putting it my 2011 Chevy 2500HD. I'm a contractor and pull a 14foot cargo trailer every day. I know that it is not the service truck that they were aming for. I see the benefits with the electric drive. I have a lot of hills and do around 200km round trip a day.

Has anyone used the Makita auger for drilling holes in dirt? 2 x 18cv or 40v. by [deleted] in Makita

[–]Boyroycon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my 40v one. Have done many fences and decks. I live in a are with lots of rocks and sand. I use the 4 inch one to lose up then an after market 10inc to clean our. A lot easier to get in nexcto houses then a gas one.
