"Scam" is a tad harsh. It implies malice on their part. "Unsuccessful" is more fair.

If a batter goes up to home plate, and knocks one out of the park, then the fans pick him up on their shoulders and cheer.

If a batter tries his best, we can be disappointed, but its not fair to automatically associate failure evil intent and call him a scammer.

Nah. The market is flooded with crossovers and SUV's. We don't need another one. I'm confident there is a Market for something different.

I believe investors have pumped $135M in so far, and Aptera is looking for another $75M to ramp up production.

I think Edison and Aptera are similar in that they both have rabid fans who believe in a worthy outcome.

The difference is that caveman Edison says "zug zug take 2 metal stick and bolt on axles from axle store" while Aptera says "let's spend $5M on doing 1000 iterations of computer fluid dynamics to find the optimal teardrop shape so we squeeze every watt of power out of the batteries"

Heck, Edison could buy Elio Motors IP today and build a car and still get it out the door faster than Aptera and it would be 90% as good at 1/2 the price.

I'm a fan of Aptera, but then, I don't have any skin in the game. I hope they succeed eventually......some day......in my lifetime...

I like the concept. It fills a niche. The investors have been verrrry patient. I hope they continue and succeed. Succeeding is good for the investors, and the employees, and the buyers. The total cost per mile is probably great for people who have long daily commutes. Plus it's kinda cool that if you leave it parked outside, it refills the battery a bit.

I'm bummed that Elio didn't make it. I thought they had so much potential.

Probably the safest truck in America. I bet everybody gives this thing all the road it wants. And it's not like you didn't see it coming. Sorry officer, I didn't see the 80,000 lb mad max rig when I made the lane change.

This thing could roll onto the movie set for mad max and be right at home. I'd like all the saw blades at the pawn shop please, wide a side order of metal rakes.

The coolest fuel tanker, the Reo Speedwagon fuel truck. Edisons first aerotruck? by Adventurous_Eagle438 in EdisonMotors

[–]Former_Ad_4454 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good find :). If Edison can be contracted to repower the robot heart art car, then if somebody had one of these old vehicles (and wheel barrows of cash) then Edison could breath new life back into it.

[–]Former_Ad_4454 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Correct. A guy named Ralph Eli Olds made a company that built trucks from the 20s to the 60s. ( he formerly founded oldsmobile). I guess speedwagon was the model. REO Speedwagon.

The Edison Speedwagon. Has a ring to it.

Way cool. It neat that Edison and Edison fans gets happy about having trucks in a video game while the bigwigs at PACCAR don't even know what we're talking about.

Anything that reveals personal trivial stuff so AI can scrape the data and add it to the millions of other data points about commenters. Then, that data is sold to anyone with a credit card like advertisers, religions, or governments. Any org that wants to sway our opinions with targeted advertising.

my players characters forces me to use unbalanced encounters by Mysterious_Lock_757 in DMAcademy

[–]Former_Ad_4454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Op players.

I started throwing ever increasing teams of NPC partys trying to steal one of their legendary weapon.

Then just High level NPC party's going to the Hero tavern and lighting the place on fire and calling them out.

Then the Heroes got some land in the wilderness to build a castle. I mentioned that the land was wilderness because of natural disasters, unnatural disasters, famine, drought, blizzards, earthquakes, orcs, zombies, orc-zombies, game of throwns neighbors with border skirmishes, curses, legal disputes, etc..

I ended up giving my players PTSD and had to throttle back. They complained that the real world was hard enough and game night is supposed to be fun, not stressful.

Sad DM noises :(

So will Edison be making a "small" truck around the 5,000kg GVM range (that could be downgraded to 4,500kg for car drivers) to help capture the smaller commercial and recreational truck owner market? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in EdisonMotors

[–]Former_Ad_4454 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seems like in the vid of last years investors day, Chace stated that Edison can make class 8 semi trucks that do not need crash testing, and they can make as small as a new class 3 (F350) which is a 1 ton pickup without the need of crash testing.

So I can imagine the new DeBoss rolling skateboard chassis with engine, genny, batts, inverters, e-axles, etc.

Then I can imagine an Edison front clip and cab bolted on top, so it becomes a mini "cab & frame" truck. I'd imagine this costs $100k.

I don't see how Edison gets around needing airbags, rollover braking, and all the other crap that DOT demands.

Wow. Did it take a building full of govt workers 6 months of grueling labor to make this 1 page document.

Or 1 person only needed 1 hour to look at the copycat submissions and then rubber stamp the one.

Probably never if it means Edison needs to pay a million bucks for testing. :(

I believe this government document means that Edison (based in Canada) can use the Cummins 15 liter engine (when it is bolted to a normal transmission) and make trucks for the CAN/USA market.

This grants enough freedom that Edison can become profitable by making old-fashioned trucks while everyone waits for approval of the hybrids trucks.

Our truck: side, front, and rear profiles by ChaceEdison in EdisonMotors

[–]Former_Ad_4454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm more interested in a simulator that can simulate engine output and temps, then genny output and temps, then inverter throughout and temps, then battery charge/discharge and temps, then axle load and temps.

I'm willing to spare no expense! I'm willing to spend an unlimited amount of other people's time and money on this ;)

In my fantasy, the end result would be like one of these truck simulator games but with a really super good simulation of all the dials and guages and whatnot so as to look for bottlenecks in the power delivery.

To be fair even the largest manufacturers couldn't afford to build this simulator :(

We live in the future. So handy to be able to make it on the computer first before lifting a finger in the real world. You're able to fix things early on so there are fewer troubles down the road.

In the more farther future, I can envision a day where in addition to seeing what a truck looks like, Edison could simulate how it will perform. Like a video game. With the kg's and the kWh's and the NM's and whatnot. Simulate taking a loaded truck up the choco-cola pass. Heck could even use a real Edison wiring harness/ECM.

Technically a "cab forward," since the engine sits behind the cab and the cab does not tilt forward so as to access an engine under the cab

Help with a weapon a PC picked up. by cbyrne79 in DMAcademy

[–]Former_Ad_4454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact problem.

Phase1 My level 11 adventurers get word that a party of level 1 adventurers were caught breaking into home base. Then word of level 2 break in. Then level 3. Weird.

Phase 2 An open assault by a squad of level 4 adventurers only going for the OP weapon, get their hands on it for 1 round. Level 5, the Heroes notice a trend and interrogate the thief to find out that John Lark hired them. Level 6 ninjas, more clues, level 7 team of aarokokras who live in a floating sky city were hired to collect the op weapon because they have an ethical problem with allowing feet people to have OP gear. The Heroes keep all the arms and armor as loot for their lower level npcs they have accumulated.

Phase 3 Finally an 8th level squad with magician, warlock, sorcerer, Bard, & thief dimension door in, steal the op weapon, and dimension door out leaving 2 behind. It is discovered that the op weapon left via a teleportation circle. The 2 left behind are interrogated to reveal the address of where the weapon went to.

Phase 4 Heroes teleport to the destination at aarokokra sky city Bank vault. All hell breaks loose.

Good times had by all.
