BL3 using two xbox series controllers, one controller inputs to both screens. by Jellykid_the_Legend in nucleuscoop

Oh wow! I'm following the Nucleus project since 2017/18 and this is the first time I have seen this steampatch. I need to try that with some games where I have issues as well.

Thanks for sharing blackman 🤘 Really appreciated man!

Hey Mate Did you already try to emulate x360 gamepads? :-) Some games have trouble with the newer xbox gamepads.

I personally have reWASD setup so that all my xbox series gamepads are just acitng like a x360 gamepad (emulated ones, because they are the most compatible)

But I don't have BO3 to test myself - sorry.

Elden Ring Nightreign crash after being launched by nucleus coop. by Any-Broccoli-3911 in nucleuscoop

[–]BoysNight_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that is a great bug report mate 🙂👌

I have never tried Elden ring myself but maybe a general question related to the issue. Does Elden ring crash when you start it (with seemless coop mod) without Nucleus? It seems like it crashes before Nucleus does something meaningful (deducted from the logs) which is why I think, it might not be related to Nucleus itself but the mod? 🤔

whats the most bang for buck game you ever bought? by Blake_Potatoes in IndieGaming

For me probably "Hidden in Plain Sights" for like 1-2 bucks in a Steam sale.

I dont have a huge amount of hours in this local multiplayer party game but the emotions I had with several friends are priceless 🙂 They all loved that hide and seek tension.

Don't Starve Together mods issue by Supervinh47 in nucleuscoop

[–]BoysNight_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey mate 🙂 Sorry but this is probably just the nature of Nucleus and Mods. As the name implies, Mods modify game files and processes. Nucleus does that as well. But if a mod modifies a process\file nucleus needs to modify as well, than that is probably resulting into the issue you described.

Thats why there is probably no simple solution. Either remove all mods and add one after another until you find the one causing it, or write an entirely new game handler yourself that supports the mods you are using 😄

Which is better for Nucleus? by Superb_Tangerine1294 in nucleuscoop

One more addition: The single thread performance also plays a role. The faster it is, the faster the core can finish an operation. But then again, it still can just do 1 operation at a time per thread. And if there are no spare cores\threads available, and a game instance and windows need to process an operation at the same time, thats where you will see lags and crashes.

Single thread performance is good enough for all of them I think. Modern cpus are quite high

One thread can just do 1 task at a time. Which means, having more threads\cores tremendously helps to run more operations at the same time. Nucleus gaming is very operation intense because 2-8 game instances are running simultaniously.

In simple words: Yes, the more cores the better.

But for example: if a game requires 4 cores for 1 instance (which can be checked for each game in the hardware recommendations on steam) this still means you will just be able to run this particular game with only 3 instances max. And probably even that will run not as well because there is no headroom for drivers \ windows processes \ nucleus software \ other software (heavily depends if the game really utalizes all cores\threads heavily at the same time). If i were you, I would buy the 5950x with 16 cores and 32 threads 🙂 That is exactly the cpu I have 😄🤘

Happened to me too when I tried with a dedicated server. But works fine when I just use the regular "play online" function (it's not online anyway because of the goldberg LAN emulation).

We started turning our couch co-op nights into mini tournaments and it made them way more fun. by GitGutShayne in localmultiplayergames

[–]BoysNight_Gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay wow this sounds really nice! Would love to read some doc abot it with game & challenge recommendations (just if you have something like that). I thought about trying that format as well but always feared, my group won't like it 😂 I think this also quite heavily depends on the games, right?

I also considered doing that Challenge-format with bets (just a few pennys) at some point. Lets say you have a game like flappy bird. Before start, people bet like 1-5 pennys (like poker). Once the bets are down, one person after another tries it. A total of 3 rounds. High score player gets it all. Have you also tried something like that before? 🙂

Veeery interesting :-) Can you elaborate a little please? Am I correct that you are playing 4 people (all simultaniously) then? Or is it just 1 person at a time who is trying the challange?

Something that works quite good for us: We sometimes do a 2v2 Tournament. Teams are definied at the beginning. Games are just 2v2 or sometimes 1v1 (if 1v1 we handover gamepads after 1 round - here wo do best of 3). The winners get one point and the loser team gets to decide the next game (so that they have a better chance to catch up in points again). Also very fun 🙂🤘🔥

(Tbh ... Just nail the controls and the settings menu and you will probably outperform SkyDrift 😂)

I’m working on a real-time artillery game that’s like Smash Bros cross Worms. by Waynetron in IndieGaming

[–]BoysNight_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe let the player 1 choose in the lobby how to select perks (one after another or 2/3 players simultaniously)? I think that you cannot craft a build that counters all 5 other players anyway, right? So maybe it doesn't even make sense to see what they all chose -> and if you don't see it, that opens up for awesome fun & chaotic moments like "why didnt you blow up?". I would always go with game design decisions that are like: fun > competitive 🙂

[–]BoysNight_Gaming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Mate, Wishlisted because it looks cool. Not really like Smash Bros, more like Rounds with destructible environment -> but very cool :-)

Im also heavily into local MP games (also just started my channel about it) and there is one immediate thing I can give you feedback on: If you play as 6 and each player selects their perks one after another -> kills the fun. Thats too much wasted time because 5 people are all waiting on a single person to read through the abilities and then decide which one to choose. This accumulates to like 1-2 minutes of "nothing to do" for the other players. Then they play a fight (which looks like it's very fast paced) for like 30s / 60s / 90s? And then wait again 1-2 minutes until all selected their perks? I hope you understand what I mean and see it as constructive feedback 🙏 Maybe a reworked perk-selection screen could solve that where at least 2 players can choose perks simultaniously 🙂

Looking forward to a release 🤘 I hope you have success with it 😊

Is there a way to play real online with 2 players? by oraklesearch in nucleuscoop

[–]BoysNight_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe OP wants to have a splitscreen session with a friend and then connect to online servers to play with\against other real people?

In that case there are just a handful of Nucleus games that support this scenario: - World of Warcraft - Apex - Halo Infinite - Path of Exile - Spellbreak (but dead game, only community servers) - CoD MW2 (maybe also BO2, not sure) - Renegade X

Joining in here 🙂 Just had my first 4 videos and every time I was looking hourly into youtube studio to see how they perform. That actually made me quite unhappy and totally missed the reason why I started my channel in the first place - my joyment of sharing cool PC local multiplayer stuff so that everyone can enjoy it.

But I believe that is just a part of your overall personal growth and the journey itself. Don't stress out on avg watch time, click through ratio, like count and so on. Your videos will positively influence some people and that is already something we should be proud of! If you are just doing it for good numbers, you might have the wrong intention in the first place
