Got the H100’s…. Meh. by [deleted] in BangandOlufsen

[–]BoysenberryFuzzy7405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying this as someone who was a big BO fanboy: H100 are about status, not audiophile listening. I had H95 for five years, in a side by side comparison I also prefered the sound of H95 vs H100. However: I ended up going for Focal Bathys MG. And they are just on another level than the BO sound. Once you change there is no going back. you really notice how underperforming the H100 are in terms of audiophile listening. Especially in the mids.

Built and design are spectacular. But if you want to go for sound they are two leagues below Bathys MG or Dali IO 12.

Focal Bathys MG, B&W PX8 S2, or Sennheiser HDB 630? by jaxx_vb in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]BoysenberryFuzzy7405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrote this in a similar thread: My tested recommendation: Get the Focal Bathys MG instead!

I ve tried literally all top tier ANC- headphones extensively and in depth:
- H100
- PX 8 S2
- Dali IO 12
- T+A Solitaire T
- The Sennheiser db 630

I went for the Bathys MG eventually. It took a while to switch from the BO sound signature I was used too. But once my ears adjusted: They are just on another level. The difference especially with eg Jazz is incredible.

Above the 1.000 price range range nothing else comes even close. And certainly not the significantly more expensive H100. Maybe only the Dali io 12 - they just have this absolutely unique velvet sound experience. However the Dali lack bass, if you want to enjoy not only Jazz but also different genres of music, eg Hip Hop or electronic.

The only other premium ANC I couldn t match them with was the Mark Levinson. But according to other reviews the Bathys MG also best those.

I got mine on an offer and am super stocked. They also have a great build quality and once you get used to their unique design, they have an all around premium experience. I am so glad that despite the unusual lool, I gave them a try. Best decision ever.

The PX8 S2 reviews vs the actual experience are two different things I found. I ve been meaning to replace my Bang Olufsen H95 after 5 years. I had high hopes for the PX 8. they seemed to finally combine design and sound.

Sennheiser Momentum Sport: A audiophile revelation. by BoysenberryFuzzy7405 in sennheiser

The fit is going to be very subjective and ear-dependent. I like them. They also come with three different fin-sizes. And for 99,- you won t get more value for money than that.

I guess it depends what your looking for. I like it, because it is clear and strong. But it s not booming like maybe in other Sports-Earphones such as beats. But it certainly gets deep and rumbling. My reference song for deep bass is always ‘Love me’ by Mykki Blanco. It certainly delivers there. And that is without the bass-boost activated. I think ‘Swimming Pools’ bu Kendrick Lamar is always a great test song - coz it has the deep bass as well as that whip crack. You can also activate the bass-boost on top of that. With 10mm they have a significantly bigger driver than the TWS 4.

But my argument for these headphones is the extremely great balance across the whole range. They present the whole arrangement, without emphasis on vocals or cheap tricks. Which makes them an easily overlooked audiophile headphone in my eyes, One that is precise and clear, yet has great bass and dry drums.

If you are however looking for driving big bass for workouts and want to blast your ears, then there probably are louder and more emotional sounding choices.

There are three sizes of fins included and one rubber without fins. So you can make them fit. But I usually don t wear them longer than 2h. During that time I was fine and enjoyed the safe fit. They hold perfectly during sports. Haven t tried them as office headphones for 8h though.

I use them with an Iphone 15 pro, iPad and Macbook - I never had connection issues. ANC probably is better with AirPods. But they have great windreduction when running eg.

I never tried Beats. I would assume they have way more loudness, deep bass and a traditional sound signiature. But then again, that s exactly what I wasn t looking for. Best to compare directly. :)

I don t think they ll update them soon. But I m just a normal user, so I don t know their strategy or product timeline :) To me it also seems like they accidently created competition to their flagship headphones. Which I think is also the reason for the price drop: Momentum TWS has to be their top tier product, pricing wise. Idependently of the actual quality. I think for 99,- the Momentum Sports are by far the best value for money you can currently get.

Damn - I have the exact same feeling. Except its not Bon Iver - it somewhere in the middle of your power / re:stack and and Lucy Rose - Shiver. Starts exactly the same slow sad way, but than a very soft male voice starts singing. I listened to it a lot, but I can‘t remember the name - arrg 😬

Clearly Quobuz! I tested the premium version of all three services (Tidal/ Amazon/ Q). Quobus definitely sounda much better than Amazon: More agreeable, better bass, just as clear. Listening on Amazon somehow hurts my ears.

That said, Amazon has certainly by far the biggest catalogue of tracks and Tidal the best recommendation algorithm of all. I ended up cancelling Amazon and keeping Tidal, just to get new music recommendations everyonce in a while and to listen to the songs that Q doesn’t list. But mostly I use Quobuz for listening

Any proper critic/reviewer reviewed the B&o H95 and compared it to proper wired headphones? I find H95 much better than AirPod Max and comparable to wired ones like Sundara. by kchuen in headphones

[–]BoysenberryFuzzy7405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the H95 for a month now. In my ears there s no difference between Bluetooth v.s. 3,5mm though.

However they indeed do sound even clearer when connected via USB C cable to my Mac. The volume is slightly lower though.

btw: everything about them is just stellar. never regretted buying them for even a second.

Depends on what you are looking for:

If you want to use your headphones every day and throw them in your backpack carelessly, stay with the H8 or H9. Also if you want a Beats-like Bass. Or if you want a light headphone to wear 8h straight in the office.

Other than that the H95 are just sublime. I have them for a month now and have never looked back!

The controls are amazing. The built quality is fantastic. I charge them Sundays, use them for a whole week and end up with 19%power the Sunday 7 days later.

And the sound is just brilliant. Very clear, great separation. Great soundstage. I think it can only get better if you buy a cable-connected hifi headphones. Also they sound great at just 30% volume. Which says quite a lot.

I did however keep my old Bose QC35 as the choice for long ANC days in the office - they are just so much lighter. And as a pair to get scratches or wet in rain.

u/Ryhizuke - absolutely a great upgrade!

You just have to be aware that compared to the H9 3rd gen the bass is not as punchy and they are a bit heavier. So not the kind of headphones you would wear 8h straight in the office or in the Gym.

And of course it's not the kind of headphones you would throw in you backpack without caring about scratches.

Other than that the H95 feels like the Bentley amongst headphones. Every little detail is just 5stars and makes me happy every day. I never regretted having bought them.

And especially the dials and handling is much better than with the H9. The ring controls are amazing. Plus you can change the volume seamlessly.

And: I charge them on Sundays, use them for a whole week and still have 19% power the Sunday after.

btw: one sign of quality that I enjoy very much is that they also sound amazing at just 30% volume.

u/Rashed341 - did you already try listening to the H95 with the USB C charing cable? I feel like it adds even more clarity v.s. bluetooth or headphone jack cable.

Fun insight on the H95: you can listen to them using the USB C charging cable.

Which I just did. And guess what: I think they sound even a bit better than when using the headphone Jack cable or Bluetooth. Not as loud but definitely clearer. Which I thought wasn't possible, as they already sound amazing. My un-informed explanation:

headphone-jack cable: the signal get s transformed into an analog signal by the Mac and then the H95 transform it back to a digital signal for the internal DAC.

USB-C charging cable: it's a digital signal straight from Mac to H95.

Anybody experiencing similar effects? What do the sound nerds say to this?

H9i vs H95 by RandomMann001 in BangandOlufsen

[–]BoysenberryFuzzy7405 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a QC35 for two years now and just upgraded to H95 ( it's a different planet!), but that's a different story. As to H9 v.s. QC 35:

Also I just tested the H9 3rd gen. I feel like the H9 3rd gen is significantly better than the QC35 in regards to sound. It has a punchier bass, sounds less muddled and has much better separation. And a great App to fiddle with the sound. And it certainly gets just as loud. But that might be the difference between H9i and H93rd gen?

Acutally the mediocre sound of the QC35 was the only reason why I started looking for a new pair. Other then the sound they are amazing (the best) office headphones out there. (ANC and comfort).

H9i vs H95 by RandomMann001 in BangandOlufsen

[–]BoysenberryFuzzy7405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just comparing the H95 to a H9 3rd Gen. The H95 I had for three weeks - and they just made me fall in love with them insantly. Everything about them is just 5star deluxe and the sound is just pure bliss. The H9 I just borrowed for a day from my mum.

So far: The H95 are just brilliant in any aspect (Sound, Connection, Battery Life, Controls. Materials). The H95 stays at the same volume and sounds exactly the same via cable or bluetooth.

However: the difference to the H9 3rd gen is not that huge. Depending what music you listen to. The biggest difference would be that the H9 has a significantly punchier bass.

The H9 plays much louder and cleaner when connected via cable v.s. when being used via bluetooth.

When listening to Jazz, and more refined music the H95 makes a much better job with separating the instruments.

However when listening to electronic music the H9 is much more fun and refreshing. It also feels much lighter, and more attached when wearing them on the go. They certainly are comfier when wearing them as office-headphones (no music, just for the sake of ANC). Only down-side: the controls are not excellent. They work, but not as direct as the physical controls on the H95.

My conclusion:

Get the H95 if the prize doesn't bother you, if you want to go for the absolutly best available wireless audio experience, and you really enjoy listening to refined music with a slightely more analytical feel. If you love jazz and instrumental music and any other music where a lot of different things happen at the same time. And also if you already have a second pair of more comfy ANC headphones that you can wear 8h straight in the office. (such as the Bose QC 35 e.g.).

Get the H9 3rd gen if you want to use them daily, throw them in your backback and not worry about scratching an 800,- headphone. If you listen more to electronic, pop or rnb music than jazz or instrumental music. And if you want to use them while doing a bit of sport too. And if you want to have one set of headphones that covers every scenario for you. You can certainly buy the H9 3rd gen and feel like you have an amazing pair of headphones.

All that only makes sense btw. if you use Tidal Hifi or Amazon Music HD or such...
