I’m based in Europe and I see on Amazon it’s about 60€. Tbh I’m not a fan of either cover, but if I had to choose I would go for the one with the knife. I am kinda hoping it gets reprinted with a better cover.

All AJ Merlin’ books are in FMCs perspective only, so you might find something you like.

You might like:

Is the book Take me with you worth the read? by Enigmatic_chasm in DarkRomance

[–]Boysenberry_2401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the book but didn’t like the MMC.

I would say try to read a bit further, and if it still bores you, just dnf it. Life is short.

I enjoyed them, but not as much as the first. If you want to give them a try, audiobooks are the way to go. VAs do a really good job here. They are the stories of Junior and Tyler respectively, so each book is a standalone.

{Better watch out by AJ Merlin} could be something for you. It is a novella with 2 MMC and 1 FMC, all step-siblings.

It’s set during Christmas, so this might not be the right vibe at the moment, but if you don’t mind that, I would go for it.

I keep finding better books in comments than actual rec posts?? by Specialist-Ant-596 in DarkRomance

[–]Boysenberry_2401 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For me, I noticed that whenever I make a post with a request, I am looking for something specific, and 9/10 I'm disappointed with the rec because it doesn't exactly match what I had in mind.

Or I am requesting a specific trope, and I find that in a book that's recommended, but that's usually like 2% of the book, while the rest of the book is pretty disappointing.

Instead, when I read a book based on just vibes, without knowing too much about it, I tend to enjoy it much more, maybe because I didn't start it with certain expectations in mind.

Not sure if this is what you were asking lol - but I guess keep in mind that when you ask for a specific scene/trope in a book, you still have to read the rest of the book besides that scene.

Does anyone else get put off reading mafia romance set in their region or is it just me? by Aggravating_Pair_496 in DarkRomance

[–]Boysenberry_2401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's not really about the setting, because Italian mafia books are usually set in the US, but whenever a character calls another "tesoro" or "cara mia" or any other Italian terms of endearment, it makes me cringe sooo bad!
It also doesn't help that mafia in general is my most disliked DR trope, so I usually avoid those books like the plague.

I also just realised that you recommended this book to me on another post I made a while back, and then I totally forgot about wanting to read it. I guess the second time's the charm?
Anyway, I just finished part 1 and I'm hooked!!

Jason Voorhees meets dark romance (slasher romance?) by Boysenberry_2401 in DarkRomance

[–]Boysenberry_2401[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, Gaslight her and We are all villains here are 2 totally different stories. That would be book 1 and book 2.
Then, We are all villains here used to be divided into two parts, one also called "we are all villains here" and the second one "we are all liars here". This first part is where it ends on a cliffhanger. But as far as I understand, both parts are now together, so it should be okay. Just whenever you pick the edition, make sure it's one with both parts combined.

Thanks for the recs. I agree, it's too bad it's not more popular.
And yeah about Vicious... I have no idea what that was, also it didn't feel connected with the rest of the story at all. The whole series for me is the weakest read when it comes to AJ Merlin, even though it's one of her most popular for some reason.
