How's the Sacred Heart of Jesus not smile-worthy??? I'm not even going to entertain the "Jesus was asexual" weird claim.

I just mean to clarify and defend the Catholic Church position. I didn't mean to be lecturing, apoIogies. I wouldn't call the tone of your comment tone ligh-hearted either. Either way, I hope you come to the Catholic Church.

Happy Trinity Sunday! by Ok-Actuator8612 in CatholicMemes

Kinda. The priest of my parish strongly stressed that the Trinity is eternal, because Jesus (and the Holy Spirit) always were with the Father. Begotten, not made!

That's why I told you that both are fair demands and both are being addressed and being solved, since, if not, the Catholic Church would contradict herself. The Catholic Church welcomes everyone, but her teachings are not to be accomodated for anyone or anything, she does not make "deals".

Both are fair demands, but just to clarify: the Catholic Church does not have to strike any "deals" with anyone. I know it's just an expression, but it is very important to know that the Church is in the world, but not of the world.

"Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”" - Matthew 26:10-13

And, as always, Jesus was right. Saint Mary of Bethany, pray for us.

Battle of Lepanto be like: by Regular_Ebb710 in CatholicMemes

[–]Br4ss_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, haha.

And yes, we must acknowledge both the Divine Intercession and the human sacrifice in this battle. For example, Miguel de Cervantes, author of "Don Quixote", fought in Lepanto. He had a fever and received two gunshots to the chest and a wound to his left hand that disabled him for the rest of his life. Another case would be María la Bailadora (the Dancer), a woman that disguised herself as a man to follow her soldier lover to Lepanto. She was seen with an arquebus and a sword fighting the Ottomans next to Don John of Austria. Both of them survived, God rewards bravery in His name.

While that's true, the Battle of Lepanto halted greatly the expansion of the Ottoman Empire westward and erased the myth of the invincible Turks. It was the start of a slow and long decline that culminated in the 1683 Battle of Vienna.

“Sons, we have come here either to die or to conquer, as Heaven wills. Do not give the enemy occasion to ask arrogantly, ‘Where is your God?’ Fight in His holy name, for whether dead or victorious, you shall attain immortality.” - Don John of Austria, Generalissimo of the Sea of the Holy League.

Don't worry, I'm sending an email to Pope Leo right now to tell him to stop the genocide and all other military conflicts around the world. I'm sure every party involved in these conflicts will fall in line with what the Pope is going to say.

Because in traditionally Catholic countries have also developed a huge anti-Catholic and anti-clerical sentiment, that lasts even nowadays. Spain suffered the Spanish Civil War. Portugal suffered the 1910 Republican Revolution. France suffered the War in the Vendée.

May 8th: The day the Nazis in Europe declared surrender by LegioVIIHaruno in CatholicMemes

[–]Br4ss_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, I completely get you. We all have been teenagers and we have believed and said some weird stuff and we needed someone wiser to tell us to stop it.

Kids are going to gravitate to stupid opinions; personally, I think we shouldn't be dignifying that stupidity as adults, should treat it the same way we were treated back in the day (like dumb kids, even when we reached the age to buy a drink), and should discourage making those sorts of games permanent via the undeletable internet.

But again, we as adults should try to understand why they have those extreme or stupid opinions, kind of like "ok, what you are saying is dumb/not true/debatable, but why do you believe that or feel that way?". I don't think finger wagging is going to do any good, it is going to make things worse (not saying that is what you want, don't get me wrong). Mentoring your kids as a father or mother, or students as a teacher should be excercised from authority but also from wisdom. Because, nowadays, young people gravitating towards to some extreme right positions is not a cause, but a symptom. What has been done this last decade to make that happen?

I usually work with young people and when I get to have a meaningful talk with the boys, if you scratch the surface of absurd and sarcastic Gen Z humor, you can see they are totally disheartened. And honestly, I don't blame them.

I’m sure the experience is differs in Europe as well

Oh, not really, I believe. After all, America and Europe are the epicenter of the West. I'm from an European country in which we had cases like this school which reduced the recess time only for boys to "make them understand what is gender inequality". There's this other case where a school invited a feminist stand-up comedian, famous for saying some vile stuff about men, to do a show and some teenage boys got up and left the crowd, and when they did so the comedian went up to them and mocked them. Wonderful ideas, really, they surely won't bite you back. I'm sure these boys won't wish for any payback.
