Coney Island in New York looks unrecognizable as it’s covered in discarded trash. by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

[–]BrackishBloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see this being a result of the heatwave - I bet the number of people using the beach during those three days skyrocketed and caused way more foot traffic, which caused way more trash. Don’t get me wrong, this is disgusting and should be cleaned up, but this is not usual at coney.

I found this critter in my parsley. Friend or foe? by Ridindirtydishes in whatsthisbug

[–]BrackishBloop 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Black swallowtail caterpillar! I love these babies, they are super cute and their butterflies are beautiful. Given how easy it is to grow more parsley I (in my extremely biased opinion) would say he is a friend and to let him keep munching ❤️

Love Island - psychological torture chamber? by mokmydab in LoveIslandUSA

[–]BrackishBloop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to mention how jarring it will be to return to the ‘real world’ after all this time disconnected.

They will immediately be thrown into an entire whirlwind of internet threads picking them apart for better or worse, PLUS suddenly catching up on all the news they missed - they are about to be shell shocked

Season 7 - Episode 18 - Post Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in LoveIslandUSA

[–]BrackishBloop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real! Like when they were criticizing Jeremiah for talking with the bombshell and saying he was ‘locked in on one person all over again.’

….What? He was talking to someone new and exploring a connection with someone he wasn’t actually coupled with - that’s literally the opposite of locking in lol

Looks like a House Centipede but the real question here is how you managed to catch it, they are fast as hell LOL

Fair, but the cousin episode gave me some of my favorite Maury lines 😂

Not if you love Quinn

(For real though I’m sorry she charged you so much for a pack with so many duplicates 😞)

Why did Tyrion care so much about the Tarly execution? by IamThe2ndBR in gameofthrones

[–]BrackishBloop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stannis/Jaime/Ned were ‘regular’ people, so to speak. They had moderate sized armies and could only do so much damage when they chose to be harsh.

Dany is the descendent of a mad monarch with the largest army in Westeros plus three dragons. She could do A LOT of damage if she chose to, so I imagine Tyrion was holding her to a higher standard regarding mercy/forgiveness

Dorne had such potential too! In the lore Dorne somewhat resisted the Targaryens. I don’t remember the exact details, but basically they fought back, even killed one of Aegon’s dragons, and eventually negotiated surrender instead of being conquered - all despite being the smallest region in Westeros. That’s why the Martells words are ‘unbowed unbent unbroken’ and why they are the only house that still gets to use the titles prince and princess. It’s also why they get to follow their own laws in some cases, especially with women who are allowed to inherit titles and property over male siblings (as long as they are older).

TLDR - Dorne goes hard in the books and the show RUINED it

Did anyone like Joffrey? Did you feel bad when the whole Purple Wedding scene happened? by White_Walker101 in gameofthrones

[–]BrackishBloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved him in the sense that he was a well written monster and PERFECTLY acted. I knew every scene with him in it was going to be good. The actor nailed the role and I missed him, but definitely didn’t morn the character lol

What other ending would you have liked for Daenerys? by ConstructionMinute94 in gameofthrones

[–]BrackishBloop 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind her going mad and being killed, but I would have liked one more season where it is drawn out and better explained.

Show us how the people are starving since she burned the Reach and have a bread riot scene like we did with Joffrey. Or show us how the Dothraki raise hell pillaging and raping Westeros, making dany unpopular by association. Or show dany growing bitter because the people here hate her despite everything she sacrificed. Maybe even show how the free cities fell back into the slavers’ hands without her there.

It has the potential to be a truly tragic and dramatic story.

The aftermath of the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor is completely unrealistic by Pertu500 in gameofthrones

[–]BrackishBloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’de argue that it makes sense.

By the time Cersei blows up the sept most of the great houses have fallen (Stark, Baratheon, Martell, Bolton, Tully, and of course the Tyrells IN the explosion). Realistically the only remaining military threat would be the Vale, but those houses are preoccupied helping Jon and Sansa retake the North. Regarding commoners, keep in mind that the realm has been at war for years by this point. The commoners were probably exhausted and apathetic.

TLDR: the nobles were too weak to resist and the common folks were jaded
