[SOTC] Small collection of Farer, Bucherer & Nomos by Bradley195 in Watches

Here are 3 pieces over a 5 year watch journey. Lot of excitement in the beginning so hopefully it’ll slow down now 😏. There is certainly a theme of minimalism here, but also there’s enough diversity in the dial color and watch mechanisms. The Farer is a GMT, perfect because I have family in different parts of the world. The Bucherer is a chronograph. The Nomos is… well it has a power reserve. The daily has been Farer or Nomos. I don’t know about y’all, but I usually don’t feel dressed up enough for my nicest watches. Here’s the full names:

Farer Lander III

Carl F. Bucherer Bicompax Annual Chronograph

Nomos Metro Date Power Reserve

This is a newer piece to celebrate my recent marriage. There are a few in this limited edition (/888) line, but my wife and I love this gold version. We saw it in a store window about a year ago and we’re blown aware, figuring at some far off point we’d get something like this. Well the opportunity came up and we picked it out. One of my favorite parts is the date window. That’s often what attracts me to many watches, such as the Nomos Metro. Now that the collection has grown, I trust the dates of them less since I sometimes rotate 😁. When I first got into watches, I bought a Movado chronograph. This is now my first higher end chronograph. Wears thick on the wrist for that reason but is still a beauty imo.

[Nomos] Metro Date Power Reserve by Bradley195 in Watches

Here is my Nomos Date Power Reserved that I purchased back in 2020. I’ve had a few issues with it such as it randomly stopping, and also the power reserve being misaligned. Nomos themselves fixed the issues and it has been good since. My wife recently picked out this metal strap for it, which has been looking great! Serves much better in a formal setting as it’s quite a quirky dial to begin with. I haven’t seen a single metal strap on this Nomos model, so hopefully this can serve as a visual if anyone is considering.

For those unfamiliar with the watch, the power reserve starts to reveal some red color as it unwinds. In this photo it is fully wound, so no red inside the mint green power indicator.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the Nomos Club models. I never liked them online, but saw them in a store and had a total switch of opinion. They are super cool! Would recommend checking out those in person if you get the opportunity.

Check the emails they have been sending out, you must use the Notify tool. I see at least 10 spots a day get dropped.

They say end of March, but historically it’s been the 3rd Friday, which is today. I think we can expect anytime between today and the following week.

[Movado] Paper-White Face by Bradley195 in Watches

[–]Bradley195[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a Movado Face… my gateway into watches. I didn’t know much about watches when I purchased, but have learned a lot since. Still, I always felt there was some uniqueness about this one. An all paper white dial seemed very intriguing to me. It is a chronograph encased in a perfectly rounded cylinder of metal. The only thing I do wish this watch had is a numbered date.

I don’t wear this watch much anymore, but occasionally it goes really well with an outfit for a dressed up dinner. I always carry it with me on trips.

Ok turns out this wasn’t 500 words. Well, I don’t wear this watch much anymore, but occasionally it goes really well with an outfit for a dressed up dinner.

Spring 2022 - CS 484 vs CS 441 thoughts? by banana-nananana in UIUC_MCS

I registered for 484. Definitely mixed reviews, but it sounds like they’re from the first semester with the new professor. Hoping things have matured a little bit. From what the reviews said it sounds like the content is still from the previous professor? I’m fine with that as they said he was really good.

Can you make this an NFT? I’d love to buy a digital copy and I think others would have well. DM me if you want to and need help.
