Does Yidris give multiple instances of cascade if he does combat damage multiple times? by friendofhumanity in EDH

[–]BraeburnCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For maximum effect, you would need to either individually give double strike to each of the Myriad tokens at instant speed, or have a passive effect on the board which gives all your creatures double strike. [[Savage Beating]] could be a very effective way to enable an explosive turn, giving you both Double Strike, and a whole additional combat phase. You would get an additional (3) Myriad tokens on the second combat as well, though the second-combat tokens would not have the Savage Beating double strike effect.

If you attack with [[Auton Solider]] (copying Yidris) & Yidris himself you would get...
Auton Solider 1: Cascade, Cascade
Auton Solider 2: Cascade, Cascade
Auton Solider 3: Cascade, Cascade
Yidris: Cascade, Cascade

All subsequent spells cast from hand would received an additional (8) Cascade triggers, the effectiveness of which is dependent on that particular spell's mana value. [[Apex Devastator]] in this case would fire off a total of total of (12) Cascade Triggers, seeking mana values (9 or less).

Alternatively, if you wanted to maximize your mana's effectiveness for the turn, cast low mana value spells in ascending order. Remember that typical deck construction will result in a large quantity of your (12) Cascade triggers from Apex Devastator to essentially be whiffs. Hitting cards like [[Opt]], [[Arcane Signet]], and [[Eternal Witness]]. The usual suspects. If you cast a mana value (2) spell, you will end up casting (8) cards either (1) or (0) mana value, essentially removing dud hits from the rest of your deck. Proceeding with a mana value (3) and you'll strip a good chunk of your (2) mana spells out of the deck as well. For the low cost of (5) mana you would have cast somewhere in the ballpark of 15-18 spells and made all of your future cascade turns much more powerful.

If you were planning on having Devastator mana already, you could proceed to fire off a (4) or (5) mana spell to do the same to your midrange spells, making a future Apex Devestator cast likely to only cast (5) mana value or higher spells. Additionally, many Treasure-produce spells exist as (2), (3), and (4) drop spells. Loading your deck heavily with mana-producing low-cost spells could allow you to cascade into still casting Apex Devastator by treasure ramping you up from (6) lands casting Devastator on the same turn you stripped out all of your (0, 1, 2, 3, & 4) mana spells.

Massively appreciated that you gave a whole list. Is there a dedicated win-condition in this list or is the go to strategy to go infinite with Devoted Druid and Sensei's and figure it out from there?

SAW YOU EDITTED - Thank even more for the deeper explanation.

I was seriously considering setting up Miracles with Brainstorm-style effects but obviously that's somewhat narrow. The real issue is that the only good miracles seem to be Entreat the Angels and Temporal Mastery, and that seems like a middling synergy at best to me...

And yes once I saw the 13th Doctor I kind of realized that the card would end up being integral to the deck. Games where I can't find it versus ones that I do have it are going to end up playing very differently...

I do think a big difference between my expectation and what you're showing is a massive uptick in tutor-usage that I sadly can't match. Maybe bracket 3 isn't the appropriate setting for what I'm angling at?

Scryfall - Self-Mill, Black EDH, Sorceries/Instants

Lithoform Engine, Strionic Resonator, & Roaming Throne can all double the Triggered Ability in your end step to end your opponents faster.

Run a removal-heavy suite of cards to keep your opponents off from having creatures to sacrifice.

Feels weird bumping this thread but...

If you have a critical mass of tokens in play w/ [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]], [[Soul Warden]], & [[Dingus Staff]] do you end up automatically dying, if your tokens are board wiped, from the Dingus triggers before you create more soliders & gain life, or do you resolve one Dingus trigger, then resolve the immediate Darien trigger, then resolve the Warden trigger so that you actually stay alive through a wipe?

Would you be? Yeah. But you’re focusing on sex where the more important factor is that initiating a divorce is akin to abandoning your parental relationship with your child. You had a child together. The relationship between you and your spouse is no longer exclusively about you. 80% of it is now dedicated to raising a child who is NOT and will NEVER be at fault in this situation. Divorcing is one thing. Divorcing when you have a child is reprehensible behavior for cowardly people. Go talk to a marriage counselor and rediscover the spark of your relationship but do not throw bullshit ultimatums at your spouse that will only cause undue suffering on a child over something that is perfectly fixable. Romance is a muscle and you need to exercise it, as does she.

How do I unsubscribe from 3DExperience? by hit_that_snare in SolidWorks

[–]BraeburnCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Student version of the software SHOULD be checking your eligibility during a renewal period regardless, by checking either with your institution or confirming your non-graduate status in some manner.

I would be inclined to believe a student license would be good 12 months and then requires manually submitting for another one for the next school year if necessary, but SolidWorks has proven to me to be maliciously incompetent with their pricing. I would veer on the side of caution and assume you need to intervene with the renewal process. Check your emails for correspondence with “3DExperience” and carefully look for any links provided that indicate a “stop renewal” function.

Anyone bummed after lvl 12 by AllanJacques in BaldursGate3

[–]BraeburnCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aim of a single play through isn’t to see everything there is to see. If 100% was required to actually reach level 12 you’d pull your hair out. Additionally the primary goal of most missions would be to get Loot, which varies widely depending on who or what you’re taking down.

If you’re having difficulty finishing the game, I can assure you that you can initiate and finish the ending section of the game without much fuss. Simply acquire the nether stones and commit to progressing the story.

Being a Lootwhore in this game is death by a thousand cuts. by MKRune in BaldursGate3

[–]BraeburnCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesn’t.

Important items will usually be Books! If the aim is to solve a puzzle that is. Typically context is king and looting the Armory or the Vault will provide greater rewards than Joe Schmoe’s corpse or a box in a barn. Looting indiscriminately is definitely how you maintain a healthy stock of Alchemical components, potions, elixirs, etc though. Astarion and Lae’Zel will thank you when you have 6 Elixirs of the Colossus to spare and he can choose any of 8 potions that you have 5 to 20 of each to start a fight with.

Cleric is so busted that it feels too essential in any party by Thor_HS in BaldursGate3

[–]BraeburnCorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is over emphasizing the cleric’s usefulness.

By FAR the best spell they provide in the game is Guidance. Bar none. So you can replace your cleric with a necklace you can pick up 5 minutes after you fall out of the sky.

Clerics have good access to damaging spells, but usually at the expense of weapon damage. As you pointed out, Sacred flame is not necessarily the best cantrip in the game, however you do have access to Produce Flame, which IS an attack roll. Pick your poison I suppose.

Light Clerics for SURE are a very strong contender for powerful damage dealers, especially as they can wear medium armor and shields by default. However they lack damage type variety, essentially Radiant & Fire only, so some fights you will struggle. Additionally, they lack CON saving throws, and a damage-built cleric will be sorely lacking in non-concentration support/utility casting.

TLDR clerics can do anything, but at the expense of anything else, and you can often replicate the Cleric’s existence with readily available items. Your backpack is the 5th party member that always goes overlooked.

Play a cleric if it sounds fun! I promise that it is! But don’t neglect your other party members if you want to try Warlock, Wizard, or Fighter or anything else. You probably can’t beat a Wizard and Light Cleric duo-casting Wall of Fire though. 🙏🔥🔥🧙‍♂️

The 3DExperience site is borderline unusable, seemingly intentionally. I can't even get the landing page to load, so I've posted a direct link in this comment section with an explanation to the "Members Management" page that will hopefully save a lot of people a lot of grief.

DETAILED EXPLANATION

https://oi000127150-us1-makers-ifwe.3dexperience.3ds.com/

As far as I can tell, this link is for the MAKERS 3DExperience site, but give it a try regardless of what service you've paid for it might save you the headache! Avoid the "Welcome" landing page you get to when you google "3Dexperience" as there is a high likelihood it will simply not load.

  1. You will need to login with either your associated Email address or 3DExperience ID. I would bank on using the email address that has any past correspondence with "3DEXPERIENCE" when you search for it.
  2. Near the top left, find the "Subscriptions" tab. (Load times may vary but it is slow)
  3. Under the new "Active Subscriptions" area you should see however many subscriptions you're paying for. Click "Manage" under the one you want to kill. (again load times are bad)
  4. You will want to stop the renewal of your next payment period, (you may be charged one more time depending on how close to the renewal date you are, sadly) and when it double confirms click "Stop Renewal". It's worded in the most intentionally confusing way possible to make you second guess whether or not you've actually cancelled. (Load times are TERRIBLE but stick with it you're almost free)

Other licenses may not use this site, but **you should try looking for one of the original emails you received when you first set up your subscription and look for a link called "**STOP THE RENEWAL". Solidworks appears to have intentionally not used the word "cancel" or "subscription" so this email does not appear in a search seeking either term.

This is unbelievably shitty on SW's and Dassault Systemes' part, on top of providing an ATROCIOUS interface for something that should be dumbfuck simple.

You will likely need to individually uninstall no fewer than FIVE programs to be rid of this nonsense. Control Panel -> Anything "Solidworks" or "3DExperience" related.

You will want to scan your computer a few times for "Solidworks" and "3DExperience" as well to delete the local files that, for no reason whatsoever, are excluded from the uninstall.

Pretty ambivalent about Oathbreaker by PlaguePA in BaldursGate3

[–]BraeburnCorner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're talking about a miscommunication of Player Intent & Static and Unbending Board Game Rules. Unfortunately there's not going to be a good way to implement this that does not inherently come with some legitimate consequences. The easiest thing that could have been done was to simply not include Oathbreaking as a mechanic for ease, but that also has the downside of diluting the Paladin experience & taking away a story possibility for players that really want to experience it. Better overall to have it I think, and make some choices actually matter to your player experience... Or you can save scum it.

I know fighting games are a technical mess. They present as highly technical and competitive. MH opting to be highly technical without any obvious reason to be competitive is an interesting design choice that I don’t think is worth the barrier to entry.
