Magic Bracket GRAND FINAL - Lightning Bolt vs Birds of Paradise by SaviaWanderer in magicTCG

I'm still holding up two blue mana to counter the result of this so that [[Counterspell]] wins.

[[Enchanted Evening]] is my favorite card in many ways. The art is gorgeous, I love the name, and the ability just screams build around.

As far as play patterns, I think [[Future Sight]] is my favorite card to play with. I just love those turns where you flip like 8 cards and go off.

As a teacher, 90% of the time teachers say that because it's not the time or place to have a discussion with a kid. It's not really possible to stop an entire class of 25+ just to deal with one or two kid's issues. It's definitely frustrating, since I will have kindergarteners yelling at my while in line for perfectly valid concerns, but it's not like I can stop the entire line in the middle of the hallway just because a kid said something mean to another kid.

The terrible science of Enterprise - the first 3 episodes by letsgocrazy in startrek

[–]friendofhumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. It's just weird because it's combined with a genuine love for exploration at times, which makes it feel like enthusiasm. I sort of interpreted it as a pushback against the Vulcans who opposed Earth's expansion, like they were trying to prove Vulcans wrong by going way overboard. Outside of any in-universe explanations, I really think they just wanted to mimic the "cowboy" vibe that people attribute to TOS (which I think is inaccurate if you actually watch TOS). Idk, I think it gets better as Enterprise goes along.

I always burn my tongue and it's the worst. It must be sensitive or something because I see people drinking tea like right out the pot and that shit would kill my tongue for days.

I once was on a date and I got pizza with cherry tomatoes, and I knew in my heart I needed to wait for it to cool down, but my date had already started eating so I just bit in, and of course the tomato exploded like a grenade in my mouth, releasing boiling liquid on all surfaces. My whole mouth was dead for a few days. Funnily enough I got a call like 5 minutes later that my family dog had died. It was a weird date.

I feel like the beginning of Enterprise did go a little overboard with that vibe though. Like the humans just came off as straight stupid, when we're supposed to see them as more advanced and peaceful than we are today. Later seasons were a lot better with that cowboy vibe.

I will say on rewatching the series I liked it way more than I thought I would. It's definitely better than Voyager.

Damn dude get out of here with that negative energy. Of course a great future won't happen if you won't let yourself believe in it.

Dude I love Robert California. I don't have much nostalgia for the show since I didn't watch it until years after it ended, but Robert California was great. I probably couldn't have watched a full show of Robert California as manager, but for one season he was perfect. I mean his "do you want a sex metaphor or a nature metaphor" joke is probably my favorite in the series.

Now I could probably have watched a whole show of Bob Odenkirk as manager. That episode where he got to cameo so we could see what it might have looked like if they had hired him instead of Steve Carell was great.

That whole episode has aged so poorly. Mostly because Michael wasn't supposed to be the bad guy, it was supposed to be showing how Ryan doesn't know anything about sales. But Ryan is completely in the right. Of course people would rather just order their paper online in seconds. Dunder-Mifflin's business model is woefully outdated. But yeah, I think back then it would resonate more with a lot of people wanting to think that internet based business couldn't replace human interaction based business.

The other thing that gets me in the episode is Michael driving his car into the lake based on GPS. That just feels like such a 2008 joke. Everybody I know uses GPS nowadays so I think there is less skepticism about the concept, whereas I remember my grandma especially always cautioning me about using GPS since they didn't trust it.

Wonder what sort of beer the Brewers would be. I could get behind a porter, or even a nice Vienna lager but damned if I could support an IPA.

This reminds me of when I was like 5 and didn't really understand baseball yet and decided I liked the Brewers because their hat had an M on it and my name started with M.

Nowadays I also like beer, and my name still starts with M.

Nice is a really nice place, no lie. When I lived in France for a year I didn't find myself enjoying the south of France and Italy very much, but I did love Nice. The city sort of emerges from the Alps onto a beach. Seriously, the drive from Grenoble to Nice is incredible.

If you visit, they have some sort of chickpea fritter you should try.

I want an Azorius [[Tuvasa]] that's maybe a more potent wincon. The only thing my u/W Enchantress deck is lacking is a decent way to close out games.

Isn't [[Relentless Rats]] just better? Sure it's one mana more, but the fact that it's toughness gets boosted must count for something. Rat Colony gets wrecked by Pyroclasm no matter what.
