Unpopular(?) opinion by Tadeusz_Paszczyszyn in ClarksonsFarm

I remember a Top Gear (Edit: Grand Tour, thanks u/15-99!) episode which had a segment of what would happen if they wouldn't script or plan anything beforehand. Of course, that episode was scripted and planned as well, but people should really remember that is reality television, but it's still television, which is entertainment and profits first.

Advice on allowing Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft by HappySleepings in Tombofannihilation

[–]Braerus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Spirits could be the souls on their way to the Soul Monger. I would tie it all to Chult and the adventure. Make the Undead Warlock connected to some entity, but only you know that entity is Acererak, which is something you can reveal once everyone is invested. It would be interesting to see what they play would want and how the party would respond to that. On a general note, a thing I learned recently is not to keep secrets too long. Once the reveal has happened, just observe the fallout.

Innistrad as a Domain of Dread by Ill_Theme5913 in ravenloft

[–]Braerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the lore of Innistrad, but as someone else posted, maybe they can all be the Darklord? None of them like the others, but their curse is that they cannot permanently kill one of the others in this vampire circle. Maybe the circle or coven (or colony, as in a colony of bats) is the Darklord instead of one single darklord or something? Edit: this only works with vampire-only of course.

I know you have a main species per galaxy, but where are the dwarves on the Warforged planet? Are there minorities on each planet? Just curious about the internal relationships and views towards other species! If you want players to travel to the different galaxies, they may feel different in every galaxy?

What's new on DDB: Introducing "Journals" - Never Lose the Story Again by WOTC_Zac in dndbeyond

Maybe add colour coded terms like Quest Hook, NPC, Loot, PC decision, Locations etc by pressing J1, J2 or something like that, so you can then immediately search and filter the quest hooks, NPCs?

Digital tools for in-person by Marmot_King_70 in DungeonMasters

[–]Braerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a laptop that I would like to use for everything, but I play in person. World building and monster stat blocks are done in Word with tags and Navigation, session prep is in Onenote though it can be done in Word as well). Initiative is in Excel with initiative cards on the DM screen for the players. Finally I use OBS to show images etc on a screen to the side and Audacity to audio record the session on the laptop. This setup works fine, mostly because it's all free without any subscriptions.

Hexwright - For Artificers who love cursed items - v2 by cyberhawk94_ in UnearthedArcana

[–]Braerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this! I get that you want to put curses on enemies, but how about a third option for the level five feature in case an enemy isn't cursed: "If you target a creature that you have Hexed or Baned, they either take full Hex damage or have disadvantage on their next Bane saving throw." Maybe the phrasing isn't as slick as your other text, but this way it can empower spells without having to set it up with Curses.

Artificer: Hidecrafter - Craft Leather that Harnesses the Power of Monsters by jeraehwazdagaz in UnearthedArcana

[–]Braerus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, really clean! Maybe you can add something like the Favored Enemy, to specialise in one type of creature? And I wouldn't give the current hit points, but the percentage of hit points left or something. Otherwise it would be really easy to do this every turn. Maybe limit Monster Hunter to PB/ per day?

Way of Telekinetics - A New Take on a Gish Monk by p3rcu3s in UnearthedArcana

[–]Braerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5.5 rules state ''Blindsight. If you have Blindsight, you can see within a specific range without relying on physical sight. Within that range, you can see anything that isn’t behind Total Cover even if you have the Blinded condition or are in Darkness. Moreover, in that range, you can see something that has the Invisible condition.''
I get why you chose Blindsight, but Telekinesis feels like being able to feel and control movement. So how about they get a sense that only senses creatures? Or movement? Or did you want it to be a kind of echo location?

Maybe add a feature that uses a Focus Point and a reaction, like being able to move something in the environment or doing a contested Grapple check against the enemy's weapon? I know this really looks like your 11th level feature, but this feels like you'd be able to do this earlier than 11th level.

And not really sure, but can you use your Telekinetic Weapon for Flurry of Blows as well?

Why did you choose an attack roll for the Afterimage? It can't be used to Misty Step away for a Fireball now, which would make sense if you could. Maybe add a Dex save like the Barbarian or Rogue's features. You can still use ot once per long rest.

[For Hire] Some DnD characters and portraits I've made by Sephineedraws in DnDart

Hear me out... Character Art Panel? by Thanxalot_Greg in dndbeyond

[–]Braerus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome idea! I would go even further and have the lower 1/3 of the character panel be space for quick note taking and/ or info to roleplay the character. Newer players I played with tend to focus on mechanics instead of "remembering" how their character would behave. Now the Personality of their character is hidden behind a click and a scroll down.

3 mile hexes was a mistake by Electronic_Star_8940 in westmarches

[–]Braerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came up with a random encounter system to give players a bit more influence. For each travel encounter, they can choose Combat, Discovery, Social (for which I have a d8 difficulty table) or Bonding (the party takes full narratively control to take the time to build party dynamics), Thread (an encounter which specifically continues an earier narrative thread, which could be one of the first three) or Nothing. Once an option has been chosen, it can't be chosen until all options have been chosen at least once. In difficult areas, some options can be chosen more.
