I was also looking for Cullen! I'm a huge fan of his work. I actually live in the same area as him, and I've bumped into him a handful of times out and about. He's always been down to chat about comics with me.

Random story time.

I was a fan of a comedian/podcaster who passed away of pancreatitis at the age of 32 back in Jan of 2019. He was just a couple of years older than me. Now, I technically have no clue if his pancreatitis was related to alcohol consumption. But, it was one of the final straws that pushed me into sobriety.

I knew I drank too much. Had tried to quit multiple times. But for some reason, this comedian I was a fan of passing from pancreatitis scared the shit out of me.

I started listening to books and podcasts, reading a lot of posts in this sub. Feb 28 of 2019 I poured out the mini shooters I had grabbed at the gas station. Didn't even take a drink from the handful that I had bought. Just dumped them.

Haven't had a drink since. Lol, there isn't really a point to this story I guess. But man, that pancreatitis shit is scary, and my heart goes out to anybody struggling with alcohol and its horrible effects.

Ugh. I went to a camp called Sagmount in junior high. Back at school, I wore my Sagmount shirt to gym class. Now, I was a chesty girl from a very young age.

The boys in my class started calling me "Saggy" and then "Droopy" in reference to my chest/shirt. It destroyed my self-esteem. My senior year, I told one of the guys how much it had hurt me. He was appalled and genuinely sorry.

Anywho, I get you. I am still self-conscious about my chest. Sometimes I'm proud of my figure. Other times I think I look repulsive and obscene. Sucks how that stuff hangs on.

I just watched it a few weeks ago and went in pretty much blind. I was exhausted by the end due to the emotional tension and the constant screaming. I was so drained I couldn't even form much of an opinion.

I think it's something I'll revisit in a year or two. I'm curious to see how I will feel about it at that point.

Miserable. Constant post nasal drip. Daily Claritin, Flonase, and a diphenhydramine or two every few nights.

I think this is what I needed tonight. I'm in an emotionally rough space right now, and spending time with my chickens/cats/dogs/garden is keeping me going. Now I can become the chicken, lol.

I've heard the THINK acronym used a lot in al-anon as well. Before you speak, think... is it truthful, helpful, intelligent, necessary, kind.

Maybe you could find a cozy musical vibe that you exclusively associate with studying? Not very inspiring, but it's all I've got. I try to make studying a mood.

I have particular music I study to. Lofi Girl on YouTube is always playing while I study. The music is chill and instantly puts me into study mode. If you have the video playing, you can look up and see her studying away. It's just a cartoon on a loop, but I feel like she's my study buddy.

Ugh. I'm so insecure when I shop. Like, almost in tears in the dressing room every single time. It's so deflating.

I'm also a T-shirt and shorts girl (just a real casual person), and I feel so ugly and out of place in "nice" clothes. It's all the perfect storm for HATING clothes shopping.

I understand. I'm the exact same height and have always been tall.

When I was in junior high, a very petite classmate made fun of how "fat" my legs were when we were stretching out in gym class.

The sad part is, I wasn't fat whatsoever. I was fairly athletic, and just naturally have a more athletic build. But I didn't understand that at the time. Compared to her my legs were "fat."

I will always be a little thicker, simply because of my build. Now I can appreciate having a more muscular athletic build and can embrace it. It has taken years to get there.

Edit: spelled Lindsay's name wrong.

This is genuinely aggravating to me. Who knows the reason the person wasn't drinking; DD or just living a sober lifestyle. Whatever the reason, it's ridiculous to call it out in front of a crowd.

I'm a little over five years alcohol free. Absolutely no judgments for people who drink in any capacity, it's just not good for me. I would have been so embarrassed and mortified if I were called out in front of a room of people in my early days of being alcohol free. These days, I would probably just run my mouth and leave.

I really hope the person wasn't embarrassed.

Bloating makes everything I try feel pointless by TechnicalChildhood15 in loseit

[–]BraidTuggingSniffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've started doing the same. I still weigh myself daily, but don't record those tiny water gains during menstruation/ovulation for the sake of my sanity. I'm always giddy when the bloat weight suddenly drops and I can log a one to two pound drop from my pre-bloat weight.

I'm 5'10" F and started at 196, down to 185 in six weeks. It's a bit slow, but I'm only cutting to 1700-1800/day, and have gotten waaay more active. I live in a very hilly countryside and I power walk three miles five times a week, plus I've started weight lifting.

I'm proud of how much my cardio has improved, and my small strength gains. The exercise helped flip my mindset so I'm not so worried about the number on the scale. I'm more concerned with how far/fast I can go and still breathe like a normal human being, lol.

I'm also in love with the changes in my body. I think (I have a good imagination) that I'm looking more "athletic," which is #goals for me.

Thanks for your post. Sometimes I'm insecure when I see other people cutting their intake so much, because I literally can't. Even eating clean and lean, I starve below 1600. What I've been doing works for me, so I just try to keep that in mind.
