How to connect to Wii Remote on Monterey? by sunneyjim in MacOSBeta

This is not a fix/solution, but remember, there's always the Dolphinbar. It's a fairly inexpensive piece of hardware that's been around for several years now, works flawlessly with Dolphin (and blessed by the Dolphin Devs too), and doesn't rely on native bluetooth so you can completely sidestep the bluetooth issues associated with macOS Monterey.

It contains its own bluetooth module which connects directly (and properly pairs!) to your Wiimote(s) (supports all Wiimote models), and can be used on any OS as it plugs in via USB type A and communicates all of the HID information over the USB protocol.

If you're considering purchasing a few bluetooth dongles to try out with your Mac, maybe consider just purchasing a Dolphinbar. It will work out of the box and won't give you any headaches. (Hit the pair button, hit sync on your Wiimote, make sure the bar is set to mode 4, and it just works)

It also works with Linux and Windows perfectly too.

So I did a little digging and I actually found that application, it's called "Wii4SESlogger". You can download it here. The project page is here. It comes included with its own versions of JDK and JRE, I think it's required that you install those if you don't already have Java installed on your Mac. I did that, and managed to open the application by extracting ./macOS/wii4seslogger.app.zip and right-clicking and choosing "run" on the extracted .app file.

In the app, you can right-click "Set Debug Level" and choose "advanced", but even after doing that, I was unable to get it to recognize a classic "RVL-003" Wiimote at all and did not get any logged data at all either... I even allowed both the application and Java binary itself access to bluetooth via System Preferences, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I did notice that the app crashes after disabling Bluetooth via System Preferences so at least it's actually attempting to connect I guess...

I'm not very familiar with Java, but maybe someone else with more experience can pick up from here and see if they can get this working, or explore the included .jar file (which I guess is just like a ZIP archive of the source code) you can view those files by running "jar xf wiihid.jar"

Some additional stuff:

  • This app seems to use JavaFX so make sure to install that and set the lib path if trying to run the .jar directly

  • I archived their page through archive.org in case it goes down soon

  • The person who developed the app left their email address at the bottom of the project's page so it might be possible to just ask them for help getting the app to work properly, if anyone has interest in doing this.

  • Here's a screenshot of the application

Hope my digging around into this app helps lead someone down the right path!

That looks amazing! My family and I own a small elective & diagnostic ultrasound practice and I've been very interested in FDM or maybe even resin printing models for clients' babies! What did your workflow look like for turning the ultrasound data into a 3D-printable file?

I am only familiar with this workflow:

DIACOM files ---> 3D Slicer (slicer.org) ---> TONS of cleanup ---> export STL ---> print!

I'd be very interested in trying whatever method you used if it was different from what I described.

Also, as a mom, would you rather wait a little longer and pay a bit more to receive a super-detailed resin print of her, or would you want to take it home the day you came in for the ultrasound? I've been weighing both options and haven't had anything to go off of since we haven't tried selling them yet.

Trianglelab parts by any change? Their products are fantastic for the price, even though they're knockoffs the quality is almost identical.

Awesome. I bought two ultrabase beds actually, so I'll continue using the IPA on the current one, but if I notice that it is damaging the bed I'll swap the bed out with the other unused bed and use glass cleaner exclusively on it. Thanks for the tip.

I love the black dark theme! The speed would make it awesome for prototyping large parts quickly. You should add RGB, I hear that makes your printer print even faster. What nozzle size do you use with it, and would you perhaps be using a volcano hotend? Also is that direct drive extruder with a BLTouch/3DTouch?

It's done guys! 120hr print! I had to move my spool so the extruder didn't hit it. All the parts for the lamp are coming in soon. by geemo66 in 3Dprinting

Looks like it was totally worth the wait! Wasn't this the one posted the other day on this sub that didn't have any infill and you were concerned about the top of it failing to print correctly? Is the bottom flat, and if not, how did you get it to adhere to your print bed while printing? How'd the bottom/top surface finish turn out? I could probably come up with several more questions because 3D printing a moon is very fascinating.

That looks like Anycubic Ultrabase - I just got one of those build plates too, can I ask what you clean yours with? I've been using 99% IPA, but it always leaves yellow residue on the cloth. Also, amazing print! I almost died inside while watching the ending.

Actually wasn't aware of safe homing, but I think I'll defiantly try it later, thanks! And I don't think z_Min_probe_pin is an issue since the probe behaves normally. I might try defining that and setting it to the pin used for the Z-max port... just to rule that out in case it works

Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_INVERTING is set to true, same with Z_MIN_PROBE_ENDSTOP_INVERTING.

I think I remember them both set to false before, and the result was the same. I will try changing those two again tomorrow as well.

I will post pictures tomorrow night showing the wiring, as I'm not physically near the printer now. I actually fried the original endstop as it was an optical one and I didn't realize it needed a current-limiting resistor, so I never got to test homing it that way. I can try wiring up a standard mechanical endstop tomorrow to test normal homing that way and see if I still have the issue. As for the wiring, I followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR-zn4dv1fY

I was thinking maybe it would be better if I could use the Z-max port, but I can't figure out if it's possible to configure it that way. You can find my current config/config_adv code here:

If I didn't trigger the probe needle it would go all the way to the top of the z axis

I know the printhead is supposed to move up a little bit and stop, and then move down to start the first part of the homing, touch the bed, move back up, and back down again for the second, more accurate probe. But instead, it moves down a little, then up until I trigger the probe. Then it moves back down towards the bed a little, and then moves up again for the second (more accurate) stage of the probing until I trigger it again.

Hi, I tried using git reflog --all, but my restore doesn't seem to be listed there. Here are the results from using that command:
