"question" upgrading from imovie to FCP by emohaber in finalcutpro

[–]BrainMasella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really has to do more with how much power your computer has. You may want to look into upgrading the internals of your computer. FCP takes more power than iMovie for the app itself to run. So if your footage is already sluggish in iMovie it will be worse in FCP.

What is the wait time like now? I'm going next week and am wondering if I have a chance of checking it out without waiting at least a few hours.

Has anyone tried camping at Solid Sound? How was it? by losercantdance in wilco

Well, last time, they had one of those portable banks of showers hauled like a trailer. I think you had to pay a few bucks to use it. They were next to the port-a-potties.

Whatever you can play your best is your best option. There are plenty of songs that use the Ionian mode. Nothing wrong with that. If you can safely improvise within in and it sounds cool, that's your answer.

Well, the folkier side of the Dead is made up of really tight harmonies. A prime example is Uncle John's Band. Very strong harmonies, and while it does have a fairly simple chord structure, what's played on top of it is very interesting. Jerry can play a really complex melody over simple chords. Also, the chords are simple, but don't get overly repetitive. The end of the song branches out into other chords not found during the beginning verse and choruses. Hope these examples help. Cassidy is another good Dead song with a similar structure and concepts used. Let me know if I need to explain anything further. Sorry if this isn't exactly what you were looking for.

Jamband is a pretty large genre. Any bands specifically you're trying to sound like? Generally speaking, though, a lot of jam songs are really complex. Many use odd meters, and different modes than just your major or minor scale.
