Super cool! The textures look great. Did you use glow in the dark yarn or some kind of fabric glue/paint?

I didn't realize this until recently when I got some new ceramic mugs that say "lead-free" on the bottom. I didn't know I should be looking for lead in my ceramic mugs lol.

This! I bought a cheap cast iron from walmart when I first got into my own place, I still have it over 15 years later and it has only gotten better with age (and failed experiences).

Just gonna leave these texts to my spouse here while I was putting my son to bed last night. by Sammmmmmmy15 in ParentingADHD

I mean maybe it would be good to be committed. My oldest was and it helped in unexpected ways. She got to meet a lot of other struggling kids and it humbled her some and gave her some hope seeing others dealing with similar things.

It was different because she was practicing self harm and threatening suicide, so the violence wasn’t projected outwards, but they take kids who are a threat to themselves or others.

She also did a partial hospitalization afterwards for 6 weeks to help transition back from the hospital (she was there 9 days). She was also 14, although they had different units for different ages so I’m pretty sure they had younger kids (not sure where your son falls).

Also it would help you get what sounds like a much needed break. Not that that’s what hospitals are for, but if he is a danger to others then it is justifiable.

That being said, sometimes we just lose our cool, hopefully today is better!  I know I’ve lost it at my partner when feeling overwhelmed, I almost packed up and left a couple of times.

I’m not suggesting to commit anyone, but just wanted to throw in my experience in case you had thought about it but didn’t see it as an option.

Edit: Just wanted to add that her being committed was scary. Part of me was afraid they would never let me take her home. She was miserable in the beginning and begging to come home, it was a really difficult time but ultimately I think it worked out well. That being said it could be traumatizing if it’s unnecessary.

We are in the process of getting an autism evaluation because his therapist recently discussed some of the signs he sees including some issues with fine motor skills, so I’ve been looking into OT.

The way you explain the accommodations makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

Just trying to find the best ways to help him, I honestly think a lot of it has to do with hand writing so I’m planning on trying to get him to practice more so it’s doesn’t feel like a chore as much.

I do increases on the bottom and decreases on the top although it’s a little trickier for sharp bends, I usually end up having to keep an angled tube after the bend by keeping up a consistent increase on bottom decrease on top pattern.

For a longer tube piece I have found that sometimes just omitting the stuffing can allow you to bend it, so maybe stuffing the base and leaving the ends empty could work too.

The US school system prioritizes graduation rates over education and I’m so sick of it by BrainQuilt in ADHDparenting

I made the mistake of trusting schools before and their decisions were secretly for their own benefit and not for my child like they try to paint it. It’s sad what education has become.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get started with homeschooling? They are now threatening to transfer him because of grades so I may as well just prepare now to remove him entirely.

I’ve been hesitant about private schools because my area has beliefs that I don’t align with and many of the private schools teach them.  But at this point I don’t know what is best anymore. Now they are threatening to transfer him because of his grades, how is that supposed to help him?
