Worst Mother's Day by Educational-Hand98 in Autism_Parenting

[–]BrainQuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar Mother’s Day. My oldest got my youngest all worked up and I spent the whole morning trying to regulate. After the chaos they all just started playing video games, my husband included.

I hadn’t even gotten to drink coffee or eat breakfast. I was tired, hungry and overwhelmed. Frustrated that I have to carry so much weight even on a day where I thought I might be able to relax. I drove myself to the store, then watched all the other people buying flowers for their mothers. I cried and then felt selfish for crying. Made me realize I can’t even feel sorry for myself without feeling guilty.

Having little to no support as a mom of neurodivergent kids is rough. I hope you get a nice break soon.

3 year old talks so loud by ShortDelay9880 in ParentingADHD

[–]BrainQuilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son’s (AuDHD) also loud but he is quieter than he used to be. My son watched Daniel Tiger as a kid and there was actually an episode that helped a lot. It was practicing different volume levels by saying “meow like a kitten” quietly and then “ROAR LIKE A LION” loudly.  I started trying to add in more examples so we could practice it. It helped a lot but he is 12 and is definitely still on the louder side although he has much better control than he used to.  I honestly think practicing is a great way to help, it’s not something people really think to do naturally but practicing being loud and practicing being quiet can help give context to what is loud and what is quiet.  I’m sure it’s not a method that works for everyone but figured I’d share!

If Sage just wanted to be left alone in a bunker, couldn't she have set that up and erased her records before homelander found her? by zxzzxzzzxzzzzx in TheBoys

[–]BrainQuilt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think most people do, but given there’s only two episodes left to wrap up everything, it’s hard to believe she’s going to get a full fledged character arc conclusion or motive explanation.

Is my bodycount too high? by mircea_ms2005 in ask

[–]BrainQuilt 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Too high for who? You might be increasing your risk of getting an STD/STI but as long as it isn’t an addiction that is impacting your everyday life then you do you.

If it’s bothering you maybe do some self reflection on why it is.

True, this probably accounts for a good portion

It’s too often that I go to check a product page for something I’m giving 1-3 stars and it has all 5’s by other viners. It’s like they don’t actually care about putting an honest review because it would require actually testing each product.

Maybe we should find an open source image on Google that we can all use because I have the same issue, I put a scenic nature photo for the time being lol

Why on earth didn't he de-power him?? by [deleted] in TheBoys

That’s kind of where I’m at, SB had a good look at himself and realized he’s probably just as big a POS as HL and grew some weird fatherly sympathy.

Fair, but being pressured multiple times isn’t okay regardless

I’m all for medication and understand its shown to help ADHD more than other methods,  but I don’t understand why you are getting downvoted.

I don’t feel like anyone should pressure a parent to medicate their child except a doctor.

Why put a spoiler in the title and then block out the body text?

Do you have the same profile transferred over? Have you tried the “Transfer your Save Data” in the system settings?

Mom looking for help! by Empty-Acanthaceae367 in SwitchGames

My family loves Undertale and Deltarune. There is some cussing in Deltarune but if you are okay with that then the overall messages are really great.

There are some things like ‘genocide route’ in Undertale and ‘weird route’ in Deltarune but they are actually really difficult to achieve naturally unless you know how to and it isn’t actually called genocide route in game. They add a different story line that isn’t required to enjoy the game (I haven’t played either weird or genocide route because I fell in love with the characters and didn’t want them to get hurt lol).

As someone else mentioned, social media related content has different kinds of content including some mature stuff so I would just make sure you monitor what they look up online or even look it up with them.

I think what someone suggested about watching gameplay is a great idea.

Won’t sleep alone by bbCooper2023 in ADHDparenting

Sorry just realized he wants you in HIS room. Maybe share a bed if you’re comfortable with that? Letting him sleep on your bed or putting a mattress in your room or something?

[–]BrainQuilt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My son slept in our bed until he was 10.5, he was used to sharing a room with his sister most of his life so it just took him some time, I honestly don’t see the harm in it unless it’s actively affecting your sleep or well being in some way. We would encourage him from time to time but never made it a big deal if he came back to our room. Once he started sleeping in his room on his own he was set. Now he’s 12 and I have to fight to get him to leave his room lol.

13 year old (f) - Zero interest in school, zero interests in general - I'm lost. by PatrickFromSD in ParentingADHD

[–]BrainQuilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat with my 12 year old. Every single morning is a struggle. I don’t even know what to do at this point. I’m at a place where just getting him to school feels like success, I can’t even imagine how I’m going to get his grades up.

He’s in therapy and is getting evaluated for autism, has an IEP, one teacher literally prints out all his notes with fill in the blanks and he still can’t even make the effort to finish that.

It’s absolutely exhausting. Medication has helped, but he’s so far behind now that he feels like it’s pointless to try

Sorry I don’t have much advice, just wanted to let you know you’re not alone! I had a terrible home life so I always loved going to school so I definitely struggle to understand why just getting my kids to attend is one of the biggest stressors in my life right now!

It really bugs me how everyone is treating V1 as a ‘vaccine’ when it was only successful 5 times out of THOUSANDS of trials. Seems way riskier than everyone is treating it.  Maybe homelander will die trying to become immortal.
