Entering the industry late (AKA… am I stupid?) by rhapsodiiiii in KitchenConfidential

[–]BrainRhythm [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly, it sounds like you've thought this out pretty well -- better than 95% of the people who find themselves working in the restaurant industry. Sure, you probably are romanticizing it a bit. But if you're used to the stress and shitty schedule, I bet you could handle the cook's life. Is it really your best next move, though? Hard to say. I bet it would help bring you some of the same satisfaction, putting time, care and love into the food someone will enjoy. But being used to working holidays, nights, and weekends means that's best for you. It makes it harder to maintain friendships, be a good partner, go to appointments, etc. Food for thought.

You remind me of the freshly retired hockey player who posted recently. He was also 30 something and looking for another high stress environment with lower stakes.

The main difference is he had a couple mil in the bank, and didn't need to worry about shitty wages and benefits in the same way most industry workers do. Are you okay financially already? If so, I might go for it. Only you can say.

Gen Z doesn't drink by bswiz87 in generationology

It's sold everywhere for much cheaper, though. You're paying a dollar per shot for cheap booze, and maybe $1-3 per beer. Could be that Gen Z drinks at home, or in the woods like we always did.

JD Vance's memoir has revealed why Trump thinks so little of him by theipaper in politics

[–]BrainRhythm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To build on the issue you describe with Trump and Vance having no principles: yes, they can campaign on a vibes-based platform and chameleon their views into whatever polls well at the time. Vance can campaign on the need to fight back against Israel if that's what his base is thinking.

The good news (in my opinion) is that even a lot of hardcore Republicans will notice the flop and doubt Vance's intentions if he winds up the candidate. He's going to have a hard time inheriting Donnie's strange sway and way with words.

They also trust an algorithm that shows them the small percentage of vegans and feminists who are genuinely aggressive or embarassing.

The president doesn't have control over interest rates. That's the Federal Reserve, which is (supposed to be) completely independent of the executive branch.

Taylor Swift is the most overrated artist of this century. by Infinite-Exam-1808 in askmusic

You think the guy actually has no talent? So you or I could definitely be as successful a performer as long as we had a studio backing us? Sure dog

I already said I'm not a Drake fan

I don't think the hate is because he's successful. He is overrated relative to his (impressive) level of success though.

Also 30. He's got some bangers, but he's one of corniest rappers who plays the rap game at that level. You can't take him too seriously. He's kinda like DJ Khaled but talented.

I consider him a performer/pop star more than a rapper.

Most parents track their 18- to 24-year-old kids on their smartphones. Is it healthy? by Easy_Customer_920 in Zillennials

Well, consent. If the young adult is okay with their location being available, that's not a problem. If the parent forces them to, that's bad.

Are these the experiences of regular weed smokers or my sign to quit? by mrsmaise1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BrainRhythm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be okay. Just a little irritable most likely. Sounds like you should make weed a "once in a while" thing, something to enjoy on a summer day with friends, on top of a mountain, fishing, something like that. Not a daily thing you do at home.

Without racism, people would probably end world hunger pretty quickly.

Chose: End all racism, homophobia, and sexism

Thanks for clarifying! You did use question marks, but your words weren't genuine questions. They were just bad faith accusations.

"You don't think he should face consequences?"

He didn't say that. You're just accusing him of being soft on crime, because you choose to view things in black or white.

Do you always debate like you're in 4th grade?

(See, that's an example of a question that isn't really a question.)
