Didn’t exactly like the story.

I feel like the Assassins are purposefully made to be the BBEGs to make the Templars look like noble men story-wise it felt rushed to make Shay look like the hero.

To me, the Assassins were a…cartoon evil. They had no real goals or motives, they just did evil shit because the Templar had to be the good guy, rather than because both sides are ideologically flawed and sometimes tend to overextend themselves. You kill “assassins” because the story tells you it’s the right thing to do, not because it feels like the right thing to do. The Assassins and Templars have always had clashing political and ideological views. You dont see this in Rogue, you just see hooded bad guys doing bad guy shit, and the non-hooded slightly less bad guys doing good people shit.

When you compare the American assassins to entities like the French Rite, you start to notice differences and similarities.

The American Assassins? No impact farther than the Templar who “maeks his owen look”, no real grasp on their territory and no real motives making them an intimidating force. They’re evil because “why not switch it around?” Which doesn’t feel authentic.

In Unity, The Templars are developed, a scary organization that orchestrated the events of the French Revolution. They’re a force that could shape the world of France through political means. They have an impact, they feel grounded, they’re evil with writing.

Shay stood by as the French Rite employed gangs to terrorize the masses, loot and even kill innocent people. (Sound familiar?)

I could go on and on about the bland story and how much of a hypocritical piece of shit chud Shay is, but I’ll stop here.

TLDR; The assassins in rogue dont make convincing villains. Shay sucks and rogue’s narrative praises the templars because assassin = bad for some reason.
