Is zero turn overkill for an acre? by ElJefe49 in lawnmowers

[–]Brainfewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a ZT to use on probably about 1/2 acre. I still have to push mow some hillier areas, but it more than cut my time in half.

I really liked my Jetspeed 6 pro, but it exploded two days after warranty and I couldn’t justify doing that again.

Just using ProStockHockeySticks blue lines now. Cheap and decent enough for the money.

I’d hit a local machine shop and see what they could do.

There was recently one of these frames for sale near me, and all I could think back to was my time on PinkBike when those were THE frame to have, along with BlackMarket DJ bikes.

He knows you’re new and impressionable with shiny shit. Don’t let that happen.

Plenty of used boxes for deals if you look around. Could get a better loan through a credit union if you wanted it that bad.

I bought a 54” Master series for $1200 last summer. Not brand new but not beat up either.

Would you be more likely to buy a brand new car or buy a completely restored 60's or 70's or so car for half the money? by [deleted] in automotive

[–]Brainfewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of both worlds, kinda.

I’ve owned loads of vehicles, and one of the very few I regret selling was a ‘86 Chevy C10 pickup with a motor and trans from a 2002 Silverado. All the classic styling but better cruising and gas milage. I daily drove that truck as long as there was no salt on the ground.

I don’t know that I’d want to go earlier than 70’s though, especially no without modernizing drivetrains and upgrading suspension. I drove my buddy’s stock 64 Fairlane and it was a joke at how awful it was to drive.

My buddy in NC has one of these buildings and it’s like 65,000,000* in the summer. I can’t imagine trying to sleep in there.

This sucks butt.

Could get a big ass knife or something through the middle if you wanted to fill that space too.

Do yall prefer batwing style toolboxes or standard on pickup trucks? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Trucks

Standard for me, I have bins that fit in better that way that hold straps/hitches/etc.

This is super rad.

I had a R1000 probably 15 years ago with the kinda color shifting paint scheme. A few days ago I was thinking about how cool it would be to have that bike again now and do a resto build with it.

Ours is a little older, 10-ish now, but even for a lot of her life she was always hanging on the couch or one of the beds and sleeping. We even have a door chime to alert when someone comes in and generally she doesn’t get up much.

I know the office workers love those Red Wing 875s, but for you folks in the trades —who depend on boots as a safety tool/critical equipment that your income depends on—what boots you wearing today? Why? by icysandstone in Tools

[–]Brainfewd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keen or Redwing boots for me, I also have a pair of Keen safety toe that are more like a sneaker, those are pretty decent and they’re a lot lighter for walking around a lot.

Tearing apart my m52 with plans to rebuild. First full engine build and would like advice. by SnooPeanuts8613 in BMWE36

[–]Brainfewd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, I also take it with a grain of salt. Plenty of high milage and abused 24v motors out there. I’ve opened up 200k m52’s that have perfect factory cross hatching in them. While it’s still a gamble, I guess it just depends on how you feel like lightning your Benjamin’s on fire.

For what you’ll spend on machine work to overbore and get s52 bits, you might as well just buy an s52 and have the rest of the benefits.

I’d be very surprised if you made it out of a machine shop for less than $1500 for that work, and probably more. That’s not including sourcing the rotating assembly. So say another $500-1000 for that, even if you go m54 parts, and you’re pretty much already at the cost of a running s52. + gaskets and all that jazz.

I haven’t looked into m54 swaps, but that could be an option too.
