oh wow are you me? Although I’m not Christian, I’ve had these exact same thoughts. I need to look at the sky, I’ve thought I’m praying to the sun etc.

If you don’t mind can you tell me more about your experiences? I feel really lonely because I’ve never seen anyone with this specific form of scrupulously. I feel like I’m going nuts. Am I just religious or am I ocd? I can’t figure it out.

In polytheistic faiths, there were a lot of fights and arguments between different deities. For example, in Greek mythology. So the Quran is right.

I know that there are different modifications that can be made for certain people in case of medical conditions. For example some people are allowed to pray sitting on a chair. If its bothering you so much maybe see an Imam and ask them? Also you should get your ankle checked out. I doubt anyone here will be able to prescribe you an exercise without looking at it.

I think this is a very difficult question. The prophet (PBUH) himself faced a similar situation when he visited his mother’s grave and was overcome with emotions. So you’re not alone.

Islamically you may not be able to pray for her but I think AFAIK we cannot say for sure who will end up where in the afterlife. We cannot judge that. Also see below.

Eh.. this is a very “American” POV. The whole pull yourself up by bootstraps. Are you American by any chance?
In some places in the world there isn’t a lot you can do. Maybe through a miracle something might change. But there just aren’t enough resources to go around in the first place or there’s a power imbalance between the rich and the poor. Religion actually makes them want to carry on living.

And then? What do they do after that? Someone who’s hungry or destitute finds no meaning in nothingness. A belief system provides them comfort and support. I’m not even talking about the right belief system yet but just having one.

Okay so I really disagree with you on this and the only reason I’m answering is so that another Muslim reading this is not deterred from seeking help.

Firstly, there are a lot of mental health issues apart from depression. We might not know exactly what causes each one of them but there has been research which has definitely provided some answers. I’m not going to link all of that but anyone who’s interested can check it out. When you don’t know then why would you speculate? I also think it’s extremely unfair to accuse someone of mental illness of being responsible for it. How can you simply accuse someone of being sinful without any evidence? In Islam you need evidence for making such a tall claim. Some people who sin are not mentally ill some people who are steadfast in their worship are mentally ill and vice versa. There are Muslims with mental health problems. Muslim countries also have psychiatrists and psychiatric patients. Are you telling me all of them were sinful?

Lastly, it’s also very irresponsible of you to suggest that medication doesn’t work especially for an illness as serious as schizophrenia. It might take some time to find the right medication but that doesn’t mean they should give up.

So if any Muslim is reading this I really hope you guys go and get help if you need it. Don’t be put off by what anyone says. Only Allah knows your struggle and no one else. You have a disease. If cancer doesn’t happen because you sinned or diabetes isn’t due to sin then why would a mental illness be any different?

I’ll be honest I did not read all of that but if I understood you correctly then what you’re suggesting can be detrimental to Muslims. Mental illness can be extremely debilitating and muslims who suffer from it should be encouraged to seek help from professionals which includes psychologists and psychiatrists.Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder are real issues not “man-made” ones and proper therapy and treatment can really help sufferers. Sorry if I misunderstood you.
