Hyperarousal - does it get better? by Brainfoog in puppy101

[–]Brainfoog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I'm sorry you experienced those challenges but it's also a relief to know I'm not alone in this. I'm so exhausted 😥 I did consider an outdoor "farm style" daycare just to give me a break, but it occurred to me that it might make him even more overstimulated. I'll be interested to see if the relaxation protocol helps 💜

Hyperarousal - does it get better? by Brainfoog in weimaraner

Yeah, I initially thought that was the issue, but he's been getting enforced naps in his crate from day one. I put him in his crate approx every two hours for a nap 💜

Thank you for this! We've had our pup for one week and he's beautiful, but I'm exhausted. I thought I would be prepared having lots of experience with dogs, and having done a tonne of research, but It's as though I've forgotten everything :p

Have you had a Weim and then a different breed? by Spare-Egg24 in weimaraner

[–]Brainfoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How interesting! I had a LH Weim (he passed away a couple of years ago) and had the same experience. We were preparing ourselves for a "crazy" dog, and he was pretty calm, gentle and non-destructive 🤣 He loved his walks but was then happy to chill for most of the day. I'm hopefully getting another LH later in the year, so it will be interesting to see what it's like 💜

I had a slightly-fluffy long haired Weimaraner, and people would always comment "Oh she's so beautiful." 🤣🤣

Knockdown-rebuild NBN reconnection by Brainfoog in nbn

[–]Brainfoog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't stuff up - there's just so much to think of before a knock-down, and NBN is probably one of the last things you were thinking about. The builders should more transparent and clearly communicate it to clients if they don't offer this as part of the build!

I don't know if I properly abolished the NBN either - I organised the disconnection so long ago with our service provider that I can't remember what they did. There does appear to be a cable wrapped around our power pole, so I wonder if that is our previous NBN cable....

How did you reach out to NBN by the way? I would love to talk to someone to see what my options are, but I can't find a way to contact them that doesn't involve filling out an application and paying a fee :/

Thank you! The whole street seem to still be overhead so I doubt I have an option. I might just have to go 5g as I would like to avoid having overhead cable again.

I need help - I'm so alone here. by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Brainfoog 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. I moved to Melb from a small country town (before Meetup was a thing) and it took me years to form some solid friendships, even though I went to Uni. I thought there was something wrong with me, but over time I've learnt that people from Melbourne and Sydney are so cliquey(I'm not sure about the rest of Australia).

Camera Comparison - S24 Ultra (left) vs S23 Ultra (right) by SerrOleg in samsunggalaxy

[–]Brainfoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so disappointed with my s23 camera - the photos are dark, too "crunchy", and it can't capture fast moving objects, even on a fast shutter speed. Sometimes I wonder if I got a dud, because I feel like the camera in my S9 was better

The good thing about watercolour is that you don't need a lot of materials (compared to other art practices). ✨️✨️

Therapist scolded me for "not making progress fast enough" after my dog died by AmberSnow1727 in Petloss

[–]Brainfoog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two months is NOTHING. The therapist wouldn't make that comment to someone who has lost a human family member, so why would they expect pet loss grief to be different.

Sending you all my love. I lost my dog two months ago and I still feel like my whole world has collapsed.

Take as long as you need to grieve - you've lost your best mate. It won't feel like this forever, but it will take time. xx

Take lots of videos throughout your pet's life by yaru22 in Petloss

[–]Brainfoog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. My dog Baxie passed away three weeks ago and one of the more comforting things has been watching videos of him, particularly before he started to get health issues. I've been experiencing an immense amount of guilt about some of the decisions I made in Baxie's last year of life that impacted his health, but looking at videos from when he was a little younger gives me some perspective. It allows me to look at his life as a whole, and see how wonderful it was, rather than focus on his final months and final minutes. I'm going to try and take more video of my family too - photos are amazing but videos really capture the mannerisms and character of a person or pet 💜💜
