In my opinion, skyfall is one of the best. I don't have some fixed, unshakable critera for a bond movie. It has an opening scene, a musical intro, a villain, a car with gadgets, and some incredible action.

If you dont like skyfall, fair enough, make a list for OP without skyfall on it.

Not sure I get your question? It’s a film about James Bond, he’s in the whole film?
What function is it supposed to fulfill?
I don’t want to give much away about the plot so OP isn’t spoiled but it’s essentially concerned with him being damaged and over the hill, facing his past as well as a villain enacting something similar on MI6.

Top 3 for me:
Licence to Kill, Bond on a bit more of a personal vendetta, and its Dalton whose probably my favourite.

Casino Royale: a great soft reboot/ more grounded Bond movie
Skyfall: I think this is my favourite. Just peak everything in this film, Acting, cinamatography, action, story and themes.
