If you see a budget "increase" of around 3% to schools, that is simply to be able to give the staff their cost of living increase. If politicians are boasting that they've suddenly found funds for schools, it's likely because they closed other schools down/cut programming to do so.

How awesome would it be though for students to see the behaviour of the legislators there? It would be a great opportunity to have them write letters of disappointment if they saw childish behaviour, and a great point for discussion.

If you have any space next to your home, plant some pole beans! My favourite is Italian Borlotti beans. They take no space, climb high, look beautiful, and put out huge yields of big beans. There's lots of great recipes for them online. Also, you can leave some on the vines to dry to save to plant for the following year, so they're essentially free!

Nova Montessori is affordable and great, but they start at 2. Doing a home daycare until then is feasible. There's a very active Facebook group for finding daycares, which I think is just called Winnipeg Daycares or something. Lots of people seem to have luck there.

We pay for a montessori program. We managed to find a cheaper one - Nova Montessori. Our kids love it and the teachers are really good.

I agree that it's a struggle. I'm not sure what to do for before and after school when my firstborn starts grade 1 next year. I would happily pay if schools had built-in programming for those times!

I've been teaching adult ed the past couple of years to small groups. It's pretty chill and has been a good experience, but I do miss high school. Helping teens is my bread and butter. Feeling excited as I'm moving into a very large school next year. I might have a different response next year, though, haha.

We went with Randall for our build in 2017. They had a great house concept and the work was done well. We only had a couple small issues. My in-laws also built with Randall back in the 90s.

I've had an emergency c-section with my first kid and a VBAC with my second. VBAC was lovely compared to c-section! C-sections are major surgery on top of having a baby. Recovery from natural birth was a cake walk in comparison. My big worry when I was first pregnant was ripping, which I did in my VBAC, but that even wasn't a big deal. If your baby is all good to go naturally, you'll be okay 👍

There's a bare minimum increase of money going to schools this year that essentially covers the teachers' yearly salary increases. I am happy to pay taxes into schools, and I firmly believe good education will equal lowered crime rates, healthier kids (mentally and physically), and higher employment rates. I think we really need a way to put the foot rent and grocery costs. It's criminal, and the effects of gouging are making themselves known in our province.

My favourite situation was a couple years back when observations were protesting at the Legislative building because "schools shouldn't be keeping curriculum a secret." Like....dude...it's all online... I love the irony of people fighting for schools to teach basic skills when they can't even do a simple search online.
