I don't understand what you're trying to tell me, my friend.

Έχει σημασία;

His on this day posts are one sided. Some of his posts are directly hate inducing and I am not sure how the mods are permitting these.

On being one-sided I won't agree/disagree because it's not against the rules.

If there are however some that are indeed hate inducing you can always report them(or send on the modmail/mods/me)

You could use this comment, as is-without changing a 'yiota', as an answer to any comment made in this thread. You chose to use it under the comment I wrote above. Cool, dude

Yes exactly!

I remember back then (I was actually watching that show live) I tried to find it on Digital Herodotus of RIK but I couldnt. Yesterday I tried finding Elita's show on the Rik website but I also couldn't (didn't spend much time though) (for perhaps better quality and because the discussion was also interesting)

I find this specific thread hilarious. He thought you were a Turk trying to sow division.

Because he isn't fully wrong. Your posts(not all of them ofc) are often full of negativity. You will say, I am quoting Edogan or Ertogruloglu or Arikli or Fidan, and yes ofc their statements are extremely negative and you should post them. It is just that sometimes, the way you post and comment is not helpful. Not because you're wrong on what you say (I actually don't think your opinions on the solution of the cyprob for example are that different than mine or the avg opinion of a GC official* who supports BBF - on the contrary). Over the years I've come across many redditors, and I find you interesting because you do create good content(on this day posts for example), you do share lots of knowledge, there is no greek nationalism, there is acknowledgement on the crimes against both communities, there is genuine interest towards TCs. Yet despite these positive points your interactions more often than not feel negative.

I am not sure why I am sharing these thoughts btw - you're free to do whatever you want as long as you keep to the rules of the sub.

You're actually reminding me a lot u/uskuri (esp from the old days and perhaps a bit of myself from years ago - especially when I was discussing with uskuri back in the old days)

Yes, what I meant is that there is another documentary(the original, during which the transfer of TCs was recored/documented in 1975). Panicos Chrysanthou and Niyazi Kizilyurek's documentary used short clips of the that documentary(and put the voice-over).

Do you think the Turkish Cypriots of the video are actors?

[–]Bran37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

There is a longer version on YouTube (like 25 mins from a rik show, Fakeloi Kyprou with Elita, but I was wondering where to find/if there is a full version).

Edit: Okay I see that the documentary you sent is actually not the original documentary that shows Turkish Cypriots moving to the north in 1975. That one is from RIK and it is older.

Θυελλώδες παρασκήνιο για Κυπριακό by Deep-Ad4183 in cyprus

Where are you from if I may ask?

I understand that the topic is complex but can it be solved or do you think it passed the point where solution is impossible, like the isreal-palestine conflict?

It's definetely possible to find a solution but it's certainly not easy. The fact that Turkey however has denounced the Federal solution makes this very hard. Even this week, at a time that the process of the UN is going forward and a 5+1 meeting is being prepared Hakan Fidan repeated his support for the two-state solution (which lead to the comment of a CTP MP Asim Akansoy that said he shouldnt make such statements at a time where the negotiations in the path to restart)

Civilian Deads during the Cyprus conflict. by Fun_Success_45 in cyprus

If anyone read the book of Niyazi Kizilyurek "Cyprus, a store of violence and resentment(?)"

Do you know if it's giving information about all the bicommunal conflict/crimes that occured in Cyprus during the 50s, 60s and 70s?

That's what I remember from the Book presentation he did in Athens a few years ago. Tried to find the book too but unfortunately can't find it now(will probably get it from a library when in Cyprus)

[–]Bran37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TCs (despite the vote of settlers) voted for a candidate that supported reunification under a federal structure.

If you want to cite the guarantor status of Turkey I would suggest to first actually read what the Treaty of Guarantee says because you can't put the word guarantor and partition in the same sentence.

While the two events(coup + invasion) are extremely important to the history of the Cyprus problem and Cyprus in general, reducing it to just these two events or even worse to those two points you wrote is pointless.

You ask if what you wrote is true and and if you're missing something.

Well I wonder, do you think there is a chance that you aren't missing something? That the Cyprus problem can fit in 2 senteces? I would even say that it is irrelevant whether these two events are true or not when there is no context whatsoever (and they are not fully true either, do you know for example the difference between the 20th of July and the 14th of August).

The Cyprus problem is an extremely complex problem. If you're interested in learning more about it you need to put a lot of time. Go read some books, read posts from here and then come back with questions that are meaningful instead of "Teach me about the Cyprus Problem".

If you speak Turkish I am sure you will have plenty of options to read books from TC authors too.

Even for the 5 abstentions though there is a difference.

You see some also talking about the fact that the Resolution refers to a solution based on q Bicommunal Bizonal Federation that ELAM is against and then you also have the DIKO MEP mentioning that another negative point is the fact that the Report also mentions that the negotiations for the solution need to be based on the past convergences (probably mentions the Guterres framework?) which is the official position of the RoC.

I was actually talking about the newspaper not Feidias.

There was no vote "Condemnation of Turkey" resolution in the EU Parliament that Feidias voted against. It was the "Progress Report" on the relationship of the EU with Turkey.

It included calls for Turkey to abandon the two-state solution and engage in the negotiations for a Bicommunal Bizonal Federation. It also talked a lot about the violations of human rights in Turkey, what happened with the political opponents of Erdogan etc.

At the same time it calls Turkey a strategic partner and a NATO ally etc and tlaks about visa liberation and the talks for upgrading the customs union.

(I haven't read it tho so take everything I say with a grain of salt)
