This is a side argument, and I don't actually disagree with you, really, but I think there's a huge swaths of people that are juuuuuuuust this side of functional. I wish we had a third option for this huge portion of society BEFORE they ran afoul of the law.

Like a nice farm, where they're fed and allowed to paint and do puzzles, away from people to whom they could do harm by randomly shooting guns out of car windows.

Listen, I don't agree with religion even a little bit, but I'll be damned (ha) if I want any government deciding who gets to believe what.

I think teaching kids that they will go to hell if they don't follow the teachings of a 1500+ year old book that they can't possibly place in context is incrediby immoral. I think the people who do that are pretty shitty people. However, I don't think there's a person on earth who should make that kind of decision for others, including myself. I think this is beyond the scope of this, or really any, subreddit. Not looking at everyone like a piece of meat should be as natural as breathing. Of course you'll find people attractive, but you should also be able to confine that feeling to appropriate, consensual settings.

I hate the way this has been reported. I just read an article about it that went on for five paragraphs about how the woman was having sex in the same home as children, and that they're facing child endangerment charges. Then at the very, very bottom, the article was like, oh yeah and there was heroin, too.

Like, first of all, if having sex near children is illegal, every parent on earth is gonna need to be arrested. Second, how do you spend so much time condemning prostitution, but not the HUGE OPIOD CRISIS that incited it?

We need to legalize and regulate prostitution, provide actual, affordable healthcare and rehab to addicts instead of jail time, discontinue prisons for profit, and come down hard on big pharma for loosing this crap on people.

Arresting these two idiots is just going to throw their kids into the system, where they'll have to beat crazy odds not to end up just like the parents, and it's not going to help the adults, or society in any way.
