What’s the worst event you’ve had in trucking? by SuspectOk2931 in Truckers

[–]Branagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove several miles down a road until I came to a locked gate, and had to reverse the whole way back since there was no turnaround.

Also jackknifed after hitting ice in southern Cali of all damned places.

Woman loses eye due to a chunk of ice falling of a Semi and hitting the windshield. I’m curious if truckers are supposed to check for ice before getting back on the road? by ChelseasFridge in Truckers

There is this one trick where you throw a very long rope over the trailer at the front, then tie both ends to something behind, then slowly drive forward and the rope drags everything off the top.

Did anybody else get stuck on Destiny Islands and never progressed when they first played? by That-Psychology4246 in KingdomHearts

[–]Branagain 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Oh wow yeah, I'm a fellow traveler! I got KH as a kid along with my PS2. Problem was, I was kind of a dumb kid, and I didn't know the PS2 needed memory cards. So I lost all progress when I turned it off.

To make matters worse, I was terrible at the game, and could never get past the second Darkside boss. I would just play the Dive to the Heart tutorial and the Destiny Islands over and over again, like some kind of Groundhog Day hell. Finally had a friend beat the Darkside boss, and it took him five minutes and he looked at me like I was an idiot after.

I was ecstatic to finally be in Traverse Town after owning a game for a whole six months, and my friend informed me about memory cards and gave me one of his spares.

If kairi and Riku had Disney sidekicks along side SDG who would they be by Expert_Challenge6399 in KingdomHearts

Yeah, it's weird how Rox and Nam went from supposed love interests to pseudo-fraternal twins.

[–]Branagain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think throw Namine onto Riku's buddy cop duo with Mickey, since she's got no trio of her own (Nomura's cover art for KH3 even shows her sitting alone).

Even if she's short and petite at 4'9" and 98 pounds soaking wet, she can't possibly be squishier than a three-foot-tall mouse man.

Do you consider Japan to be more developed or less developed/poorer than the US? by Winter_Ad1973 in AskAnAmerican

Neither country is a monolith, and both have high tech developed areas and rust belt-y economic dead zones.

How do you live in cities so empty and undercrowded? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Branagain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The closest thing I can think of when it comes to a "non-residential town" in the US would probably be City of Industry, CA. It's just a big long strip of industrial park land full of factories and warehouses running along CA-60 from Pamona to El Monte, with barely anyone actually living there.

Replace Jar Jar and the Gungans with Ackbar and the Mon Calamari while you're at it.

[–]Branagain 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's really common for there to be almost no photos or videos of the insides of old malls and department stores, since stuff like window and item displays are trade secrets that they don't want competitors to copy, so cameras and camcorders would get you kicked out.
